Basic Trope: Two beings fuse into one.

  • Straight: Solange and Luna are magical girls who can fuse into Eclipse, a stronger singular being.
  • Exaggerated: A successful Assimilation Plot creates an all-powerful Eldritch Abomination.
  • Downplayed: Solange and Luna can take on some of each other's powers.
  • Justified: One of them is a spirit who can possess willing hosts.
  • Inverted: Literal Split Personality
  • Subverted: Solange and Luna appear to be merging, but really they're just preparing a combo attack.
  • Double Subverted: They later learn to merge for real.
  • Parodied: Solange and Luna shout "ULTIMATE ECLIPSE FUSION MODE!!" - then one proceeds to stand on the other's shoulders.
  • Zig-Zagged: The girls appear to be fusing, but really they're doing a combo move. Later they find a trinket that would allow them to fuse for real, and consider it, but decide it'd be too inconvenient. They do use it to share some of their powers, however.
  • Averted: Solange and Luna don't fuse.
  • Enforced: The production team wants to give the girls ultimate forms, but has a deadline to meet, and the artists don't have time to design two separate ones.
  • Invoked: Solange and Luna keep getting separated in combat, so they learn this technique to ensure they won't.
  • Defied: "We could merge like other Pretty Warriors do, but then how will we have each other's backs?"
  • Lampshaded: "We're literally as one!"
  • Discussed: The Mentor Mascot discusses the pros and cons of this technique with them, as well as how to make the best use of it.
  • Conversed: "You've got to wonder how that even works. Who's in control? Are there two minds in that body, or do those merge too?"
  • Exploited: Queen Evulz, knowing how dependent Solange and Luna are on this technique, catches them off-guard and separates them by making Alice fight one while she focuses on the other.
  • Deconstructed:
    • The more often Solange and Luna merge, the less they know where one ends and the other begins, and they gradually lose all sense of identity.
    • This turns out to be a bad tactic, because they can't watch each other's backs, and getting hit means both have to deal with the injuries afterwards.
    • When they fuse, they learn each other's dirty secrets. This puts a huge strain on their friendship and their ability to work together.
  • Reconstructed:
    • They cultivate their self-awareness whenever not merged, all while maintaining a deep level of trust and understanding from their fusions.
    • They can still cover each other's weaknesses better this way (eg one is a Fragile Speedster while the other is a Mighty Glacier, but combined they're a Lightning Bruiser).
    • They accept each other, Hidden Depths and all, and become closer for it.
  • Played for Laughs: Solange and Luna don't get along, and keep bickering even while merged.
  • Played for Drama: Solange and Luna don't get along. A villain forcibly merges them into one because it's easier to take down one person than two, especially if said person is struggling with internal conflict and control over their body.
