Basic Trope: A pregnant woman feels her baby move in her stomach.

  • Straight: Alice is five months into her pregnancy. She feels her baby kicking inside and places her hand on her womb.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice invites her husband Bob to feel her stomach. Bob recoils after feeling the baby kick his hand.
    • The baby kicking is visible whether Alice's bump is clothed or not.
    • Alice feels so much movement that she keeps thinking that she's going into labor.
  • Downplayed: Alice doesn't feel much movement until she's in her third trimester.
  • Justified: ???
  • Inverted: The baby feels Alice caressing the womb from its point of view.
  • Subverted: Alice moans as if she feels her baby kicking inside her. She actually has a stomachache and her baby is asleep.
  • Double Subverted: But then her baby wakes up and starts kicking.
  • Parodied:
    • Whoever is feeling Alice's stomach gets launched across the room by her baby.
    • The baby turns Alice's womb into a wrecking ball with each movement it makes.

  • Averted: Alice's baby isn't mentioned as active in her uterus.
  • Enforced: The producers want a tender moment for Alice and Bob as they get ready to settle into parenthood.
  • Lampshaded: "Oh, Bob! The baby just kicked! It won't be too long until I'm a mother!"

  • Implied: Alice sits with a contented smile holding her baby bump.
  • Deconstructed: A complete stranger asks if he can feel Alice's belly, to which Alice flatly refuses.
