Basic Trope: A real life car gets a name change for a work.

  • Straight: In Troper Thieves, there's a car that looks like an Apollo Intensa Emozione, but is named the Mastorino Suprema.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Every car is modelled after their real life counterparts, down to the seatbelts and engine sounds, but they have different names.
    • The helicopter looks like Boeing Apache helicopters, but is actually a Samuel Ratchet helicopter.
  • Downplayed: The Toyota Corolla Levin is just called the Levin.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
    • The Apollo Intensa Emozione looks a lot different in game than the actual car, but still gets called this name.
    • The Pimped-Out Car Blaster XL is turned out to be an Apollo Intensa Emozione.
  • Subverted:
  • Double Subverted: The Apollo exists in this game while the Suprema is a lookalike car created by a Mafia brand.
  • Parodied: Mastorino makes a car called the Supreme, and Bob steals that car instead of the Suprema.
  • Averted: The Apollo Intensa Emozione is actually called the Apollo Intensa Emozione.
  • Enforced:
  • Defied:
    • Apollo sues the production company for using a look-alike, no matter how many changes were done to get rid of proprietary details. Either the production will use an actual Intensa Emozione or they will need to get rid of that car propio adesso.
    • The developers refuse to add a car that resembles an Apollo Intensa Emozione even vaguely. They either develop a super car design of their own for their purposes or seek a car design to license from a cheaper, and hopefully less lawsuit-happy, company.
  • Lampshaded: "Check out my sick ride. It's a Mastorino Suprema, not to be confused with any other identical car models."
  • Conversed: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Deconstructed: ???
  • Reconstructed: ???
  • Played for Laugh: The Mastorino Suprema is The Alleged Car, an utter lemon that is the car equivalent of Brand X.
  • Played for Drama:
    • Jim's ownership of a Mastorino Suprema while pretending that it's an Apollo Intensa Emozione is evidence that he has fallen on hard times financially speaking and hoping to fake it till he makes it as long as he can.
    • The Mastorino Suprema is nowhere near as safe as the Intensa Emozione and when Bill takes it for a joyride accidents that would not have happened if it was an Emozione happen.
    • The Mastorino Suprema is used for Insurance Fraud, smuggling drugs, or some other kind of criminal enterprise that just cannot be done with an Emozione (because it would have been more profitable to sell the damned thing).
  • Played for Horror: Jim makes a Deal with the Devil and sells his soul for an Apollo Intensa Emozione. The Devil gives him a Mastorino Suprema instead and makes sure Jim dies in a car crash.
