Playing With / Exit, Pursued by a Bear

Go To

Basic: A villain is finished off by a large, vicious animal.

  • Straight: Emperor Evulz, after losing the fight to the hero, gets eaten by a bear.
  • Exaggerated: Every large, dangerous animal in the area comes to eat Evulz.
  • Downplayed: Evulz is injured by a very aggressive hare, but not killed.
  • Justified: The team scientist, Alice, is breeding hybrid man-eating bears. Evulz desperately presses the button that lets them out in hopes it will kill the hero, and because it recognizes the heroes, it guns straight for Evulz.
  • Inverted:
    • The Hero, Bob, gets eaten by a bear.
    • A bear saves Evulz from Bob, Alice and Charlie.
  • Subverted: A bear shows up and charges Evulz- then allows him to climb on its back and escapes into the darkness away from the heroes.
  • Double Subverted: ...then dumps him in the Pit of Doom.
  • Parodied: The bear walks in on two legs, says "Hi!" to Ava, Bill and Carlie by name, announces that it is hungry, and casually eats Evulz. Bill and his friends high-five the bear, and it casually exits.
  • Zig Zagged: The bear eats Evulz, pukes him up, eats Bob and Charlie, poops Bill out, eats Evulz, eats Ava, pukes Evulz up again, poops Charlie out, and walks away with Alice still in his stomach.
  • Averted:
    • The villain lives.
    • Bob kills the villain.
  • Enforced: It's a kids' show, and because they don't want kids thinking that it's okay to kill someone if they're a bad person, they have a bear come eat Evulz.
  • Lampshaded: "Here lies Evulz, killed by Ava's brilliance and one very hungry bear."
  • Invoked: Bob lures the bear onto the battleground so it can do away with Evulz.
  • Exploited: Charlie, aware that the bear will eat Evulz, tells her team not to bother fighting him because the bear will get him in the end.
  • Defied Evulz' intelligent sidekick Georgie gets rid of all wild animals in the area before the battle so they can't kill Evulz.
  • Discussed: "Just watch, you two. One of the assorted wild animals in this forest will get Evulz, and the three of us will be absolutely fine."
  • Conversed: "And... the bear eats the villain. So anticlimactic."
  • Implied: We see a bear charging to where Bill, Ava, Carlie and Evulz are, we hear Evulz's scream, and then Charlie mildly comments, "Well, he's not our problem anymore."
  • Deconstructed: The bear comes on and eats... a rabbit. Bears don't eat humans, that's stupid.
  • Reconstructed: It's a special bear made in Alice's labs that eats only humans.
  • Played for Laughs: Evulz gets eaten. We see his butt sticking out of the bear's mouth, then the bear gulps him down and he screams "Damn it!" from its stomach.
  • Played for Drama: After Evulz is eaten, Bill, Carlie and Ava have an Alas, Poor Villain moment, and we are introduced to 2 new POV characters - Evulz's brother Damien and wife Evilla, who loved him very much, are grieving deeply, and fear going outside because they might get eaten by a bear.
  • Played for Horror: Evulz comes back as a horrifying, half-eaten ghost determined for revenge.
  • Untwisted: The bear runs off and Evulz chases after it. Alice tells Bob not pursue Evulz because "once he catches up it won't end well for him".
