Basic Trope: Bad guys are in conflict with each other.
- Straight: The diabolical Void 4 is in conflict with Black Hole.
- Exaggerated:
- Evil Versus Oblivion.
- Void 4 and Black Hole are just the first two of many villains who are fighting against each other for the world's destiny. And heroes capable of stopping them are nowhere to be found.
- Void 4 is an unstoppable One-Man Army who fights alone against the combined might of Black Hole's army and every other aspiring villain in the universe. Of course, he's still an irredeemable evil bastard himself.
- Akion is the god of strife, pain and other nasty things summoning The Legions of Sin to battle Humanity's Malice and his army of Fallen Heros, trying to prove whether evil comes from nature or nurture.
- Multiple villains from different factions decide to beat the crap out of each other in order to prove who is Eviler than Thou, until Void 4 show up, and they have an Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny and no heroes are there to stop this showdown from occurring ...
- Downplayed:
- A Lighter Shade of Black/Black-and-Gray Morality: Void 4, an Anti-Villain battles against Black Hole, a pure villain.
- Void 4 and Black Hole are two bullies fighting for playground control.
- Two equally bad villains are fighting each other, but they’re both morally ambiguous villains: Void 4 is a Chaotic Neutral Noble Demon while Black Hole is an Ambiguously Evil Well-Intentioned Extremist.
- Dark Grey-and-Gray Morality.
- Justified:
- Unlike Black Hole, Void 4 has lines he won't cross. He wants to rule Gundalia with the help of his magical girl army, not eradicate all life in it!
- Even if their goal is the same, their methods and ideology are completely opposite. For example, Void 4 a powerful sorcerer who wants to shape the world into his personal Utopia using magic, while Black Hole is a hacker who wants to purge the world from lesser lifeforms via Hollywood Hacking and replace them with machines.
- Alternatively they have the same goals and morality, but said goals would put them in direct competition. Neither can be trusted for a team-up, so competition will come up.
- Even though both have the same goal, the two have different alignments when it comes to being Evil. Void 4 is Lawful Evil while Black Hole is Chaotic Evil.
- Most of the villains have Names to Run Away from Really Fast.
- The stakes and risks of collateral are relatively low in this conflict, so the heroes are perfectly happy to let the villains wear one another out for a change.
- Void 4 is the Villain Protagonist. Black Hole is his rival: they both attempt to Take Over the World.
- Void 4 and Black Hole have no interest in fighting each other, and normally Void 4 would leave Black Hole to do whatever he wants as long as Black Hole leaves Void 4 alone... but Black Hole decides not to leave Void 4 alone, and humiliates him in combat. When Black Hole is about to get what he wants and has the heroes on the ropes, Void 4 bursts in and fights Black Hole, if only to get in his last word. Whether he wins or not is irrelevant, but he won't go down without swinging because of his bruised ego. If he wins, he looks good today but can be evil tomorrow, and if he loses, he accidentally gave the heroes enough time to get back up and recover enough to finish the fight.
- Void 4 and Black Hole are allies for the same cause, however Void 4, while evil, genuinely believes in the ideals of the group, while Black Hole is faking his interest for his own selfish goals, and doesn't care about who is stepped on along the way to his ascent of power. When Black Hole mocks the heroes and Void 4 as he explains his end goal, Void 4 gets a Heroic Second Wind, appalled by Black Hole's treason, and vows that if he falls today, then Black Hole is going with him.
- Black Hole has taken a hundred hostages in order to goad the heroes into fighting him. Void 4 bursts in ahead of the heroes and is ready to absolutely destroy Black Hole in an uncharacteristic fit of rage. The reason becomes obvious when they hear one of the hostages cheer on Void 4: Black Hole accidentally kidnapped his son and is now the target of Void 4's fatherly instinct.
- Void 4 is pure Chaos in every action he takes, while Black Hole is controlling and orderly to the point of being a dictator. The fight between the two depends on which side is sympathetic, otherwise a third option is taken.
- Inverted:
- Subverted:
- Void 4 decides that he wants to join the side of the magical girls to redeem himself and becomes The Lancer to them in the process.
- Void 4 and Black Hole are pretending to fight in order to let the hero's guard down, and in reality allying with one another.
- Faye joins the conflict, making it a Mêlée à Trois.
- Double Subverted: Void 4 then absorbs all the magical girls' powers to defeat Black Hole and his army, but loses his sanity in the process, making him the True Final Boss. In the process he ends up killing all of the heroes, leaving only other villains to try to stop him.
- Parodied: Void 4 and Black Hole try to outdo each other by trying to do the most wicked act ever done in human history: Stealing a book.
- Zig Zagged: Void 4 and Black Hole sometimes battle each other, but also have been known to team up or just pursue separate plans in different areas to avoid conflict.
- Averted:
- Enforced:
- A writer believes that Evil Is Cool, and wants to write a work where two evil characters are fighting each other.
- The villains are incredibly popular and completely awesome-let's end the debates other which is the better bad guy.
- Lampshaded:
- "Two villains fighting? This is gonna end well."
- "If you cannot defeat a villain, confront it with a villain who is a Noble Demon.
- Invoked:
- Void 4 eliminates all the heroes that dared to oppose him early on, so he can concentrate completely in his fight against Black Hole, who's far more powerful than any of his previous foes combined.
- It's decided that the only way to defeat the evil Syndicate or evil Government is to divide the house and turn them against each other.
- Exploited: A Glory Seeker "hero" decides to wait until one of the villains has killed the other, so that he can easily defeat the exhausted victor and declare himself as savior of the world.
- Defied: Void 4 decides to make an alliance with the Precures to take down Black Hole. He still plans to fight against them later on, but Black Hole is a dangerous menace to all of them, and way too powerful to be defeated using only his resources, so this is the most pragmatic alternative. After Black Hole is defeated, Void 4 then fights the magical girls with his minions, only to be defeated. Void 4 then accepts the magical girls as his new friends. the magical girls then give him a new phone as part of their friendship, and they tell him that he can call them for help anytime, even though he is a Noble Demon.
- Discussed:
- "I don't care about what you cynics think: The world NEEDS heroes! Otherwise, the planet will be consumed in the flames of war when the evils of the world start fighting against each other"
- "If you see Black Hole fighting an Anti-Magical Faction, don't even bother calling in the All Stars until you know that the faction has weakened Black Hole, or that Black Hole has exhausted himself fighting the faction.
- Conversed: "Two villains are fighting? Cool! Pass the Popcorn!"
- Deconstructed:
- Black Hole and Void 4 make more damage fighting each other than pulling a Villain Team-Up...which leads to several cities, countries, and lives lost, due to their various usages of gang violence, chemical warfare, kaiju, and so much more in their Forever War...which of course creates a massive Cycle of Revenge for the many victims of their schemes...
- ...and when they do...these victims would engage in brutal resistance that makes them worse than the two villians .
- ...and when they do... it turns the world into a field of Grey-and-Gray Morality, civilians not knowing who to trust anymore... leaving everyone unhappy and traumatized...so please get rid of DirectTv and switch back to cable... wait what? What the hell did I just read?
