Basic Trope: A character who is scared of their Evil Counterpart.
- Straight:
- Alice is a werewolf, whose wolf form is treated as a Superpowered Evil Side. She's horrified of transforming for that reason.
- Alice goes into another dimension and meets Evil Alice, who she's terrified of.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice wouldn't hurt a fly, but her evil is an Ax-Crazy Omnicidal Maniac. She's reduced to crying whenever she even hears about her evil counterpart.
- Alice has a whole bunch of evil counterparts that she's horrified of.
- Downplayed:
- Alice's evil counterpart isn't necessarily evil, but has some Blue-and-Orange Morality with the inability to realize that what she's doing might be wrong, and Alice is worried of the possibility of anyone getting harmed.
- Alice isn't necessarily scared of her evil counterpart, but doesn't like some of the aspects of it.
- Justified: Alice doesn't want to be held responsible for actions that her evil self would be in charge of.
- Inverted: Alice is evil, and is scared of her good counterpart.
- Subverted:
- Alice is introduced as having a fear of turning into a werewolf, but the fear is actually because of how badly the transformation hurts, rather than any fears of harming anyone.
- Alice meets someone who is supposedly her evil counterpart, but is actually a pretty nice person. She ends up getting along with her.
- Double Subverted:
- While Alice is understandably worried about being in pain, she still has some risk of harming those she cares about, and this concerns her.
- The counterpart ends up revealing she really was Evil All Along, and Alice is scared of her once again.
- Parodied: Alice's "evil" counterpart just does things like Poke the Poodle and have little to no similarities with Alice, but Alice runs away shrieking at the sight of her anyway.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Alice does not have an evil counterpart.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: ???
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: ???
- Discussed: ???
