Basic Trope: Everyone in the main cast is dead at the end of the work.
- Straight: Alice, Bob, and Catherine, who are on a Suicide Mission, are killed in an explosion at the end of the work.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice, Bob, and Catherine are all murdered in extremely drawn out, painful ways.
- Every single character that has been shown or mentioned in the work is dead in the end.
- The world ends.
- The entire universe dies. As all lives in the universe are snuffed out one by one, the audience is shown each person's thoughts and (doomed to be unfulfilled) aspirations.
- Not only does the entire Omniverse cease to exist, it's a metaphysical annihilation that erases them from ''time itself''; In short, not only is all life destroyed, it never existed to begin with.
- Downplayed:
- Alice, Bob, and Catherine are brutally injured in the ending.
- Bob is murdered in the ending.
- Alice is the only one who survives; Bob and Catherine are killed.
- Justified:
- Well, no one had any expectation of them coming back alive anyways; it's called a Suicide Mission anyways.
- Alice, Bob, and Catherine all have dangerous jobs and the story takes place over a long span of time, thus making their fates inevitable.
- The story centers around Alice, Bob, and Catherine having to prevent the apocalypse. And they fail.
- The story is framed by a CVR playback, making it a Foregone Conclusion.
- Inverted:
- Alice, Bob, and Catherine are all sent on a suicide mission, but no one is killed.
- Alice, Bob, and Catherine die early in the beginning, and the story is about them finding a way back to life.
- Everybody dies except for Alice, Bob, and Catherine.
- Subverted: Alice, Bob, and Catherine are killed, but they are Only Mostly Dead and are sent to the hospital.
- Double Subverted: The ambulance they are in then gets into a horrific car crash that ends up with Alice, Bob, and Catherine's heads separating from their bodies.
- Parodied:
- Alice, Bob, and Catherine survive the Suicide Mission, manage to live through fifteen consecutive nuclear strikes, Dodge the Bullet from the crazed assassin, and make it back to headquarters to report on what happened, only to be killed by a stray bullet from a drive-by happening nearby.
- Alice, Bob, and Catherine die by falling rocks.
- Zig-Zagged: "Oh shit, the bomb's going off! We're going to die! Phew, they defused it. No! The building's going to collapse! We're going to fall! Haha, just kidding. Fuck, another bomb's going off! Phew, it turned off in ti-" BWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
- Averted:
- No one dies in the story, not even minor ones.
- There are many deaths, but the dead characters are not part of the main characters.
- Death is portrayed impossible, as either The Grim Reaper takes the vacation or dies.
- Enforced:
- "We can't simply let them survive an explosion! Kill 'em all!"
- The work is a Documentary that chronicles an event that had no (known) survivors.
- Lampshaded: "Oh god, we're all going to die!"
- Invoked: Terrorist Daphne is an Omnicidal Maniac, who wants Alice, Bob, and Catherine dead, so she gets them in the building that's set to explode.
- Defied: "Oh please, why would I kill you all in the building? I'd have no one to talk to."
- Exploited: Daphne uses the trio's death as an opportunity to reveal it to the world and cause great panic.
- Discussed: "Is this the part of the work where we all start to die?"
- Conversed: "They killed the heroes? Why?"
- Deconstructed: The death of Alice, Bob, and Catherine causes great depression in their country as they were beloved heroes.
- Reconstructed: The friends of Alice, Bob, and Catherine, Elaine, Felix, and Gary, replace them as the new heroes. Everyone accepts the death of Alice, Bob, and Catherine and their replacements.
- Played for Laughs: Every character in the work just suddenly and unexpectedly dies, even when there was no setup or reason for them to.
