Basic Trope: A figure associated with death or some creepy supernatural phenomena appears in white or pale clothing.
- Straight: Clara is a ghost who accompanies the heroes. She is always seen in a shimmering white dress that blows in the wind.
- Exaggerated: In addition to wearing a stark white dress, Clara has very pale skin and Mystical White Hair so she looks extra unsettling.
- Downplayed: Clara can wear normal clothes to blend in, but she switches to white whenever she wants to look particularly ghostly.
- Justified:
- Ghosts can look however they want. Clara's favorite color is just white, so she wears it all the time.
- Clara was wearing white at the time of her death. Part of the ethereal effect comes from how she haunts a swamp, and the fact that her clothes are never sullied causes an Uncanny Valley effect.
- Inverted:
- Clara is a ghost who dresses all in black.
- Clare goes naked as a ghost, either due to being stuck in that way due to dying naked or choosing that form due to being a nudist.
- Subverted: The heroes see a woman in white at a graveyard, and scream in terror...but it turns out Clara is just a completely normal person.
- Double Subverted: Because they were distracted by Clara, they miss the actual white-clad ghost lurking at the edges of the graveyard.
- Parodied: The afterlife is shown in the work. Every soul is fitted for a white outfit upon entry.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Nobody wears white. If there is someone who does, they're not associated with death.
- Enforced: Clara originally wore the pink dress she was wearing when she died, but the editor didn't think she looked ghostly enough.
- Lampshaded: "Clara, your white dress makes you look really creepy."
- Invoked:
- When the heroes visit a graveyard, Clara wears white because it fits the mood.
- Clara arranges to be wearing white at the time of her death so she can appear in it after she dies.
- Exploited: An exorcist who wants to undermine the heroes knows which one is the ghost because of their white dress.
- Defied: Clara wears every color besides white because she doesn't want to look too much like a creepy ghost.
- Discussed: "Gotta say, Clara, whenever you wear white you look like a ghostly woman from some sort of story."
- Conversed: "Ghosts in stories always wear white, no?"
