Playing With / Endangered Soufflé

Go To

Basic Trope: The fragility of a soufflé is exaggerated for comedy, usually by having it fall over for seemingly no reason.

  • Straight: Bob is trying to carry a soufflé to another room, but it falls after he breathes on it.
  • Exaggerated: As soon as Bob gets within 20 feet of the soufflé, it collapses.
  • Downplayed: The soufflé collapses after Bob experiences a Sneeze of Doom.
  • Justified: Bob did not prepare the soufflé properly.
  • Inverted: Bob has no idea how to make a soufflé, and just completely wings it. He is successful.
    • As chaos ensues all around Bob, the soufflé surprisingly manages to hold up.
  • Subverted: Bob is Crazy-Prepared, and made another one just in case.
  • Double Subverted: ...Which doesn't make it either.
  • Parodied: The ingredients to the soufflé (even the utensils) collapse when Bob tries to make one.
  • Zig-Zagged: Bob makes several soufflés. Some of them hold up, while others get taken out by a stiff breeze.
  • Averted: Bob successfully gets the soufflé to its destination.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Aw, dammit! Not again!"
  • Invoked: Alice sabotages the soufflé.
  • Defied: Bob reads the recipe very carefully, and does meticulous research to make sure it's a credible one.
  • Discussed:
  • Conversed:
  • Implied: Bob said he was going to make a soufflé, and announces that it's done, but then he groans angrily, and it takes him awhile to come back.
