Basic Trope: A character has a Potty Failure in bed.
- Straight: Alice wets the bed.
- Exaggerated: Alice wets the bed so much she floods the room.
- Downplayed: Alice is on her period and leaks blood on the bed or she wets a diaper in bed.
- Justified: Alice has a bladder problem, constipation, a mental condition, a psychological condition, or is a heavy sleeper, or she is not potty-trained.
- Inverted: Alice cleans a bed that had been wet by somebody unknown.
- Subverted:
- Alice wets the bed but it turns out it was All Just a Dream.
- Leaky roof just above her bed.
- Double Subverted:
- But then she wakes up and wets the bed, or wets herself before she even gets to the bathroom.
- Doesn't explain why it's a yellowed stain.
- Parodied: Alice's entire house is flooded. When she wakes up, she says "I think I wet my bed..."
- Zig Zagged: ???
- Averted: Nobody has an accident in bed, or Nobody Poops.
- Enforced: It's a kids' show, and they want to set up An Aesop about how wetting the bed is acceptable/normal.
- Lampshaded: "I wet the bed last night." "Really? Why?" "I don't know!"
- Invoked: Bob does the "hand in a bowl of warm water" trick on Alice.
- Exploited:
- Bob blackmails Alice by threatening to expose her embarrassing secret of bedwetting.
- Alice gets rid of her Unwanted Harem of Peeing Toms by grossing them out with poop in her bed. They all run away to find some Brain Bleach.
- Defied: Alice goes to the bathroom before bed, or holds it in until she wakes up.
- Discussed: "Oh no, sweetie, did you pee in your bed last night? That's okay, you'll make it to the toilet next time!"
- Conversed: "I wonder if there will be an episode where Alice wets the bed, Bob did say he was gonna do the hand in warm water trick on her and we do know TV shows have done that before."
- Implied:
- A wet spot is seen on Alice's bed.
- Alice drinks a Gigantic Gulp right before bed. Cut to four in the morning, Alice is awake and frazzled, and her washing machine is running.
- Played For Drama: Alice is a nervous bedwetter. Her Abusive Parents keep beating her for wetting the bed, which just makes her more anxious and therefore more prone to bedwetting.
