Basic Trope: A villain dies by falling off a high object/location.

  • Straight: After the epic Rooftop Confrontation with Mr. Good, Emperor Evulz gets Ringed Out, falls off the roof and dies.
  • Exaggerated:
    • All villains in the story, including insignificant Mooks, fall from various high spots.
    • Emperor Evulz is thrown into a Bottomless Pit, where he'll keep falling long after he's dead, up until his last remains dissipate into dust due to the friction.
    • Emperor Evulz hits several surfaces on his way down.
  • Downplayed:
    • Evulz is killed, and then falls off the cliff after it's clear he's already gone.
    • Evulz isn't killed, but his defeat still has him plummet from a great height.
  • Justified: Emperor Evulz has a magical spell protecting him from any harm, and the only way to break it is to throw him into the Abyss of Annihilation.
  • Inverted:
    • Mr. Good falls from the skyscraper and dies.
    • Evulz dies because a spell is cast on him that causes him to float out of the Earth's atmosphere, where he freezes to death or suffocates.
  • Subverted:
  • Double Subverted:
    • ...Just long enough to unleash his Dying Curse. Then he dies.
    • Alternatively, Emperor Evulz dies by some means other than falling off a cliff... and then his lifeless body falls off a cliff.
    • Emperor Evulz missed the trampoline by just a few feet.
    • But the ground is a real cliff that's 80 feet off the ground. When Evulz hits the cliff, the chunk of rock he landed on breaks off, sending him to his death anyway.
    • But he feigns surrender after being pulled to safety to gain the advantage, and is thrown off the cliff for real in the following struggle.
    • Evulz falls off a cliff, but the fall doesn't kill him. It's what he falls into that does.
  • Parodied:
    • Mr. Good questions Emperor Evulz's choice of a small area where he can easily fall to his death.
    • Being Genre Savvy, Emperor Evulz is deathly afraid of heights and refuses to go anywhere higher than a chair.
  • Zig Zagged: Evulz falls, but gets back up because he can fly, but he runs out of fly power and falls, but then he grabs a rope on a blimp, but the rope snaps.
  • Averted: No villain (or even someone) in the story falls off a high object.
  • Enforced: Creators don’t want to show the death of the character, but they want to make it clear that Evulz indeed dies in the end, so he falls of a cliff high enough to be sure he couldn't possibly survive.
  • Lampshaded: "I always wondered when he was ever gonna fall off that cliff."
  • Invoked: Good picks a spot with a-lot of pits that are perfect for villains to fall off of.
  • Exploited: Mr. Good knows that the villain will most likely fall to death, so he rents a "villain killing cliff" for just such an occasion.
  • Defied: Evulz makes sure that his final battle with the hero takes place nowhere near any cliffs or deep pits.
  • Discussed: "Well, there goes Emperor Evulz. Do any of you guys think there's a chance he survived?"
  • Conversed: "I've seen that type of death so much that I'm starting to wonder if the heroes made a deal with gravity to take out all that oppose them with falling."
  • Implied: Emperor Evulz's lifeless body is found at the bottom of a deep chasm near a cliff, but exactly how he died and how his body ended up there are never revealed.
  • Deconstructed: Mr. Good seemingly defeats Emperor Evulz by delivering a blow that sends him to his death. Good checks if the body hasn't survived, only to be pulled down by the leg when Evulz catches him off guard, sending Mr. Good to his death.
  • Reconstructed:
    • ...Only for Good to pull Evulz to his death.
    • Even as Evulz retrieves the MacGuffin, said MacGuffin betrays him. Alone and with nobody to help him, Evulz dies in the abyss.
  • Played For Laughs: Mr. Good keeps pushing Emperor Evulz off the 50-story cliff whenever Emperor Evulz uses his immortality to resurrect himself from major injuries.
  • Played For Drama: Mr. Good and Emperor Evulz are at their last bit of strength when Evulz decides to deliver the finishing blow. Mr. Good, at the nick of time, destroys the ground of their arena and the Emperor falls to his death.
  • Played For Horror: The Hero watches Evulz fall off a cliff and into an abyss. He screams in terror as he falls to his demise, then lets out another ear splitting scream when he presumably encounters something terrifying down there...only for the scream to be cut off abruptly, leaving the hero shaken.
