Basic Trope: A character gives out threats of punishments to discourage immoral behavior.

  • Straight: Friar Fearsome gives out threats to his followers who aren't as moral as he is.

    • Friar Fearsome feels that he was too harsh on them, so he decides to treat them gently, hoping they won't leave his side.
    • Friar Fearsome's followers call him out on being a bully, and turn their back on him.
  • Double Subverted: But realizes that they return indulging to their vices, and now Friar Fearsome returns to his scare tactics.
  • Parodied: Friar Fearsome puts on the most scariest costumes possible as a ruse to scare people from eating pizza, which he considers horribly evil.
  • Zig Zagged: Friar Fearsome switches between kindness and hostility as he deems appropriate for the follower in question.
  • Averted: Friar Fearsome doesn't discourage his followers from doing evil in a harsh manner.
