Basic Trope: An adorably evil villain.
- Straight: Snookums is a painfully adorable, fluffy bunny-dragon in the poofiest, pinkest darn glittery dress, and everybody longs dearly to hug her. Later, she turns out to be secretly running a vast empire of countless mind-controlled alien slaves which spans an eighth of the Milky Way.
- Exaggerated:
- Snookums is so sickeningly cute she can make even the manliest creatures get nigh-fatal heart attacks from being overwhelmed by her concentrated sweetness... however, she's really a completely depraved and terrifying Omnicidal Maniac greatly feared for the time she slowly destroyed an entire galaxy cluster just for a quick giggle. She builds most of her cutesy toys and furniture out of the preserved skin and organs of her victims while she permanently seals their souls and memories within what they become, eats infants for lunch, and has essentially mastered using her own cuteness as a weapon of mass destruction. Snookums also defames those who speak out against her and steals the personal information of her victims by hacking into even the most secure data servers, and she also mugs hipsters.
- Snookums is 748.1348006 times cuter than a basket of newborn Exotic Shorthair kittens, but she's an absolute monster who vandalizes entire towns and randomly kidnaps people just to viciously torture and violate them in every way conceivable.
- Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon
- Snookums is literally the Devil herself, masquerading as an (adorable) angel of light.
- Downplayed:
- Snookums is rather quite cute, but is a bit of a meanie, and physically, emotionally and mentally hurts people she dislikes in her free time.
- Snookums isn't outright evil, but is a Well-Intentioned Extremist who is willing to harm and kill innocent people in the pursuit of her noble goals.
- Killer Rabbit
- Cute and Psycho
- Nothing Nice About Sugar and Spice
- Justified: Snookums' cuteness has caused her a lot of troubles, including abuse (born from careless cuddling which turns into straight up smothering), ridicule (no one ever takes a bunny-dragon's ideas and opinions seriously) and unwanted attention (as she can't even do her daily routine without people constantly hugging her and pinching her cheeks). Eventually, she grows tired of all that, and decides to lash out against those that caused her so much suffering and frustration.
- Inverted: Shaagna is an absolutely terrifying monstrosity whose very appearance can induce long-lasting trauma or even insanity in whoever makes eye contact with it (the closest one has gotten to ever explaining the damn thing is that it looks like an absolutely ginormous huntsman spider)... but it's actually ridiculously sweet and nice, virtually to a fault. It donates lots of money to charities, helps and gives advice to bullying and abuse victims of all ages, and even gives homeless people shelter, clothes, food, money, and affection. It's also Snookums' Arch-Enemy, always showing up to thwart her evil plans and defend the universe from her machinations.
- Subverted:
- Snookums flips out a huge laser cannon and prepares to vaporize her enemy with it, but it turns out to fire fluffy stuffed animals.
- Snookums reveals the alien enslavement empire is really just one big playtime session she's hosting across the galaxy to spread her love and sense of joy to everyone she plays with.
- Double Subverted:
- Said stuffed animals are actually antimatter explosives that detonate with a blast strong enough to reduce a whole 100-foot area to smithereens.
- It's all just a ruse to let her enemies' guard down together with her cuteness as she has her minions initiate a massive Zerg Rush.
- She considers unspeakably horrific enslavement and torture to be playtime.
- Parodied: Snookums thinks she's the evilest villain in the multiverse, but all she ever does is indulge in Poke the Poodle-style antics, like intentionally never flushing toilets, peeing in other people's drinks and taking the last cookie from the cookie jar when nobody's looking.
- Zig Zagged: Snookums seems like a sweet innocent cutie, but is really a Jerkass, then a Jerk with a Heart of Gold. Later she reveals her true Ax-Crazy nature and THEN she becomes an All-Loving Hero... But it turns out she was the villain manipulating all the conflicts from behind the scenes, since day one.
- Averted:
- Snookums is neither good nor evil; she's indifferent to being a bad person or being heroic.
- She's just a regular cute critter.
- Enforced:
- The creators of an adult cartoon or Darker and Edgier series want to make a Take That! at cute shows.
- Nothing in the entire show is un-cute, evil characters included.
- Today's Aesop: appearances can be deceiving.
- Lampshaded: "D'aww, she's soooo cuuuuuuuute~ ... wait... oh, no... FUCKING COCK-SHIT PISS SHE HAS HER OWN EVIL EMPIRE—RUN!!!!!!!!!!!"
- Invoked: Snookums deliberately makes herself look adorable to more easily deceive others.
- Exploited: The evil Dr. Dastardly uses Snookums' cuteness to his advantage and hires her as his henchwomman.
- Defied:
- Snookums holds back her evilness and becomes immeasurably nice to Bob and his team the instant they meet her.
- After a grueling stay in prison Snookums learns from her mistakes and eventually pulls a Heel–Face Turn, forever reforming into a kind (and adorable) sweetheart.
- Discussed: "Snookums may be super cute and extremely huggable, but don't undermine her—it might turn out she has an evil army of henchmen that do her every bidding..."
- Conversed: "I've noticed that recently there's been a trend of cutesy, cuddly characters who are secretly pure evil."
- Implied: Snookums is freaking adorable... and seems to have a bizarre fascination with showing up near murder scenes.
- Deconstructed:
- When Snookums manages to kill the manifestation of a highly revered deity, everyone in the galaxy immediately begins to get suspicious of her. Thanks to that, a metaphorical target on her back is stuck onto her forever, and she's unable to live with the resulting guilt after her image is shattered.
- Due to Snookums' disarming personality, voice and appearance, nobody suspects a thing at all and blames some innocent person, throwing them into jail or worse, giving her the green light she needs to keep committing horrendous acts throughout the world and the galaxy without a care.
- People start becoming less trustful of cute things; soon, even genuinely nice (or even heroic) cute critters are roped in with Snookums and targeted as enemies.
- See Justified. Snookums turned to evil because nobody ever took her seriously, treating her like a child because of her cuteness.
- Reconstructed:
- But upon being released from prison, Snookums' Freudian Excuse, Heel–Face Turn, and cuteness convinces everyone to forgive her... even though she really has no intention of stopping her crimes.
- The innocent person is able to break out of prison and forms La Résistance against Snookums, becoming the Rebel Leader dedicated to taking her down.
- People eventually stop targeting all cute critters and focus on Snookums herself.
- Snookums uses this opportunity to rally the persecuted creatures into her army.
- The heroes call out her backstory as incredibly shallow, and tell her that crimes against humanity are hardly an appropriate response to not being taken seriously.
- Played for Laughs: Alice points out how all the evidence points to Snookums being the leader of the underground alien enslavement empire, yet everyone gets mad at her for daring to suggest that the princess is anything other than a saint. Alice finds herself aghast, naturally.
- Played for Drama: Because Snookums is able to deceive everything with her cuteness, the public actively bars the heroes' attempts to stop her.
D'aww, wook at the widdle— oh no, it's got a gu— BAM
