Basic trope: A character is played by an actor of a different gender.

  • Straight:
    • The male Bob portrays the female Alice.
    • The female Bobbi portrays the male Albert.
  • Exaggerated: Every male character is portrayed by a woman and vice-versa.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob portrays Alice, but Alice is a minor character, and Bob also portrays a major male character in the same work.
    • Bob, who looks like a woman, plays Alice.
