Basic Trope: An annoying beep when you are low on health.
- Straight: A beeping sound plays constantly as long as your health is below 25%.
- Exaggerated: An extremely loud alarm sounds as soon as you lose a single health point.
- Downplayed:
- When your health drops below 25%, a beeping sound plays a few times, then stops.
- When your health is low, you get no sound effect, but the character assumes a tired expression when idle to let you know they're in bad shape.
- Justified: The Hero's mech suit is making the noise.
- Inverted:
- A relaxing sound plays when you're at full health.
- Low health causes the background music to stop playing.
- Subverted: Beep! Bee- "Ah, we won't make you endure that!"
- Double Subverted: "You can endure this instead!" Ding! Ding! Ding!
- Parodied: Moooooooooo is the low heath sound.
- Zigzagged: The sound only plays sometimes. If it feels like it. Maybe.
- Averted:
- Silence at low health.note
- No beeping or any other annoying sounds happen at low health.
- Enforced: The sound is used to warn the player to be more careful, and motivate them to find healing items.
- Lampshaded: The Hero says "I need to heal up before this sound drives me crazy!"
- Invoked: The Hero added a bleep noise to his suit to alert himself when it was damaged.
- Exploited: The Hero turns on the bleeping manually to give the Final Boss a false sense of security.
- Defied: The Hero goes offstage and kills the sound effects guy.
- Discussed: "I'm just glad there's no BEEPING!"
- Conversed: "I HATE THIS NOISE SO MUCH, MAKE IT STOOOP!"
