Basic Trope: A vehicle holds more passengers than it appears to.

  • Straight: Jolly the Clown gets out of his car and fifty other clowns soon follow.
  • Exaggerated: Jolly the Clown gets out of a tiny toy car and is followed by a trillion other clowns.
  • Downplayed: Jolly is driving a six-seater van and eight clowns come out.
  • Justified:
    • The seats have been removed from the car, leaving enough room for the clowns.
    • The car is Bigger on the Inside.
  • Inverted: Somehow, several cars are inside Jolly's body.
  • Subverted:
    • Jolly the Clown gets out of his car, but no other clowns follow.
    • The car is parked above a manhole and lacks backseat flooring. The clowns climbed out of the manhole into the car and got out of it.
  • Double Subverted:
    • Only for him to open the trunk, and the fifty other clowns climb out of there.
    • The manhole was locked before Jolly's car drove over it.
    • The clowns are too thick to fit through the manhole.
  • Parodied: Jolly the Clown also runs a bus company using his clown cars.
  • Zig-Zagged: The number of clowns leaving Jolly's car constantly varies, from one to fifty to six.
  • Averted:
    • Jolly does not own a car.
    • Jolly's car holds a realistic amount of clowns.
  • Enforced:
    • The creators can't afford a bigger car because of budget cuts.
    • The creators are fans of circuses and want to include a circus-related gag in their work.
  • Lampshaded: "How do they fit in there?"
  • Invoked: Jolly and his friends all become clowns because their car is too small to fit them all otherwise.
  • Exploited: Jolly is a bank robber. He baffles the police by driving a car that appears to be too small to fit all the other robbers.
  • Defied: Jolly jumps into the car, immediately locks the door, and drives away, before any other clowns can follow him in.
  • Discussed: "That clown's driving a car. How many clowns do you think are in that car?"
  • Conversed: "I love when clowns get out of a car that's obviously too small for them to fit in."
  • Implied: Jolly drives his car into a nearby parking garage. Soon after, a procession of clowns walks out the exit.
  • Deconstructed: Jolly has to see a therapist about his claustrophobia after being crammed in so many cars.
  • Reconstructed: Through exposure therapy, Jolly gets over his claustrophobia.
