Basic Trope: A couple which consists of a thin, scrawny male who has paternal traits and a plump, chubby female who has maternal traits.

- Exaggerated: Alice is morbidly obese and is the definition of Big Fun while Bob is Nothing but Skin and Bones and quite the Lean and Mean guy. Both are happy together.

- Alice is slightly pudgy while Bob is slender. While both are nice, Alice is a lot more affectionate than Bob.
- Bob is fairly overweight himself, albeit nowhere near as much as Alice.
- Justified:
- Alice is simply attracted to Bob while Bob finds Alice's plumpness attractive.
- Alice is chubby from gaining weight while pregnant.
- Inverted:
- Alice is built like a beanpole while Bob is a Big Beautiful Man.
- The usual personality traits are reversed. Bob is the warm-hearted one instead while Alice is more uptight.
- Subverted: Alice is a thin woman, dating Bob who is a fat man.
- Double Subverted: Alice, a thin woman, has been dating Bob, a fat man, but Bob admits to being a Chubby Chaser and Alice admits to not being one. So, Bob starts exercising and goes on a diet, ending up fairly athletic and quite thin, while Alice eats a lot more, stops exercising, and becomes a super-sized Big Beautiful Woman.
- Parodied: Bob is an actual walking skeleton and Alice is literally her own planet.
