Basic Trope: Cats are portrayed as lazy.
- Straight: Fluffy the cat sleeps for most of the day and doesn't like to chase mice.
- Exaggerated: Fluffy is a dumb cat who sleeps for almost the entire day, only waking up to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which his owner Bob has to bring to him because he will not move from his spot.
- Downplayed: Fluffy sleeps a lot, but when he's awake, he’s quite playful.
- Justified:
- Fluffy is an old cat; he's tired and achy, and lying around is easier for him than being active.
- Fluffy is above manual labor.
- Fluffy is a typical cat, and cats are crepuscular and tend to take naps throughout the day.
- Inverted: Fluffy almost never stops hunting, exploring, racing around, and doing other active things.
- Subverted:
- Fluffy sleeps for much of the day and doesn't hunt or play...but it turns out he's just come back from surgery and has to rest to recuperate.
- Fluffy sleeps for most of the day because he’s tired from all the running and playing he does at night.
- Double Subverted: After recovering from surgery, Fluffy decides that he enjoys a sedentary lifestyle, and continues to loaf around.
- Parodied: When Fluffy's house burns down, Fluffy is too lazy to bother escaping, and dies.
- Zig Zagged: Fluffy either likes to relax or has bursts of energy.
- Averted: Cats are no more or less likely than other animals to be portrayed as lazy.
- Enforced: The showrunners know that cats are hard to work with and could mess up many takes, so they only keep the cat on set for a few scenes, and only film him while he’s sleeping.
- Lampshaded: "Forget 'Fluffy', we should have called that cat 'Lazy'."

- Exploited: Tropey the dog, knowing Fluffy usually takes his sweet time getting to the pet food bowl, takes advantage of it to eat Fluffy's food before he can get there.
