Basic Trope: At the end of a story, the hero decides to become a simple farmer.

  • Straight: After defeating Emperor Evulz and saving Troperia, Bob settles down in the countryside and starts growing pumpkins.
  • Exaggerated: Every single soldier for The Good Kingdom becomes a farmer in the end.
  • Downplayed: One of Bob's major hobbies is gardening, but it's not the only thing in his life.
  • Justified:
    • After experiencing all the trauma of an adventure, Bob decided he wanted a simple life.
    • Evulz was an evil industrialist who wanted to create an Urban Hellscape, and Bob views countering his agenda as important even after his death.
    • In this society, land ownership is the primary means of gaining status, and Bob sees no reason to counter this even after becoming a hero.
    • Bob the farmer joined the war purely out of necessity, and he still sees himself as a farmer.
  • Inverted:
    • Bob decides to move to the big city after defeating Evulz.
    • Bob leaves his farm for a Call to Adventure.
  • Subverted: Bob moves to the countryside, but works in real estate and heavily builds up the land there.
  • Double Subverted: His main real estate project is building a number of sophisticated farms, which he personally works on.
  • Parodied:
    • Emperor Evulz himself was a farmer and everyone else treats Bob's subsequent choice to become a farmer as a Faceā€“Heel Turn.
    • Bob was a Non-Action Guy in the army but acts like an Action Hero in his later life as a farmer.
  • Zig-Zagged:
    • Bob makes a go of the rural life after defeating Evulz, but is highly inconsistent about sticking to it.
    • Some soldiers turn to farming after defeating Evulz, while others move to the city.
  • Averted: Bob does not become a farmer after defeating Evulz.
  • Enforced: The work has unexpectedly gained a fandom among rural people, and the producers decide to cash in on this.
  • Lampshaded: "After fighting evil, they always end up fighting weeds."
  • Invoked: The Mentor to Bob was a farmer, and he suggests Bob be like him after his victory.
  • Exploited: A campaign to promote victory gardens uses Bob as a spokesman.
  • Defied: Bob outright refuses to farm after becoming a hero, stating that he hates rural life.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: Bob outright disappears after saving Troperia, but a mysterious old farmer says that he might come back some day in a way that implies he could be Bob.
  • Deconstructed: Bob ends up finding rural life to be far to provincial after his adventures all across Troperia. Unfortunately, he only realizes this after many miserable years and after cutting off his old contacts to the point where he can't really be anything else.
  • Reconstructed: Bob takes semi-frequent vacations to other locales when he needs a change of pace, meaning the farming doesn't become too monotonous.
