- Alice is tormented with visions of Rivers of Blood bursting down the street each morning after she murders Bonnie. She runs to the nearest police station and confesses to the crime crying.
- Instead of blood, Alice is haunted by images of Bonnie's corpse staring her down each time she looks at Bonnie's bed as a reminder of what she's done.
- Downplayed: After killing Bonnie, Alice thinks she sees a single, tiny spot of blood on the new sheets she places on Bonnie's old mattress, but when she goes to wipe it away, she realizes it was just part of the design.
- Justified: Alice suffers from a hallucinatory mental disorder.
- Inverted: After stabbing Bonnie to death, Alice has a mental break that leaves her disassociated from the murder so much that Alice doesn't even notice that Bonnie's bed is covered in blood.
- Subverted: The bloodstains Alice hallucinates are actually there, they're just on the mattress underneath the sheets, which are made of such thin material that they are semi-seethrough.
- Double Subverted: Upon seeing the real blood, Alice turns around, and sees that the entire room is covered in blood. Just then, someone else walks into the room, and asks Alice what she’s looking at.
- Parodied: Alice, overwhelmed with remorse for eating all of Bonnie’s birthday cake before her party, sees visions of frosting splattered on the walls.
