Basic Trope: Two characters are in love with each other because of their similarities.

  • Straight: Alice and Bob are a couple who have a lot of things in common such as favorite food, similar upbringing, and their temperament is the same.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Screw Yourself
    • Alice is Bob's Distaff Counterpart. They both fall in love with each other after the first meeting.
    • Alice and Bob are practically the same person. They wake up at exactly the same time, do the same things at the same time, and have never said anything that didn't jinx the other.
  • Downplayed: Alice and Bob only really have a few differences such as Bob being a big meat eater and Alice being a vegetarian but they mostly have similar interests such as being gamers and enjoy dancing.
  • Justified: Alice and Bob both love the fact that they are with someone they can relate to.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: Alice and Bob enjoy doing their favorite activities together. Someone suggest that they would make a very cute couple and they comment that they are Just Friends.
  • Double Subverted: Alice and Bob then decided to date each other and after enjoying each other's company, decided to become an Official Couple.
  • Parodied: Either Alice or Bob is an Opposite-Sex Clone to the other and decides to date each other.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: They're not that good of partners; or their interests are known to clash.
  • Enforced: The author wants a character meet someone who dealt with a similar situation and see how different two people who had similar paths can be.
  • Lampshaded: "It's like we're the same person!"
  • Invoked: Alice and Bob become a couple. They share each other's interests to become the perfect couple.
  • Exploited: Bob likes Alice. Since he knows about this trope, he gets the same interests as her to get in a relationship.
  • Defied: "Just because we like each other, we don't have to be clones!"
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Alice and Bob are very similar people who are in a committed relationship. However, both of them wanted to do an activity that they can do on their own but every time they try that, the other often joins them one way or another and they get bored pretty quickly and are afraid of doing something different, causing the relationship to deteriorate.
  • Reconstructed: Alice and Bob are very similar, they are both social outcasts, and are in love with each other. The reason they love each other is that they both have someone they can relate to whenever they bring up an issue, are both comfortable enough to try something new together, and in the face of disagreements, are able to patch things up smoothly. Even if they broke up, they are happy to know that there is at least one other person around that they can relate to.
