Basic Trope: A character is considered by others to be beyond any hope of saving or turning good.
- Straight: Satanya has committed so many evil deeds and rejected so many previous offers at redemption that Sarah refuses to give her any more chances.
- Exaggerated: Satanya is so evil she's incapable of understanding what redemption is, while Sarah continues to offer Satanya a chance to turn good as Satanya is eating babies.
- Downplayed: Sarah keeps offering chances in the hopes that Satanya will recant, but she quickly reneges each time.
- Justified:
- Satanya has committed numerous evil deeds without the barest hint of remorse or regret. Goodness has hard limits.
- Satanya makes no distinction between "being evil" and "being alive". Goodness is so far out of her ken that she considers it akin to being dead.
- Satanya is a demon, and turning good is not in her nature.
- Satanya is a Hate Sink.
- Inverted:
- Satanya takes Sarah's final offered chance at redemption and becomes Angelique.
- Sarah is considered to be impossible to corrupt by the demons.
- Subverted: Satanya comes to regret not taking Sarah's final offer once she is damned to Hell for eternity.
- Double Subverted: Satanya overcomes her feelings, believing she is too late to be redeemed.
- Parodied: Sarah digs all the way to Hell and throws Satanya into the deepest pit she can find.
- Zig Zagged: Sarah convinces Satanya to be good for a while, but she's so bad at it there's no appreciable difference. With Sarah's blessing, Satanya switches back, permanently this time.
- Averted: Redemption for Satanya is never considered at all by Sarah.
- Enforced: The writer wants to create the most evil villain in his series and wants to provide a lesson that not all villains are cut out for redemption.
- Lampshaded: "Take one look at her evil resume and tell me she can be a good guy."
- Invoked: Sarah calls God up to tell Him her plan to redeem Satanya. God finds the idea of redemption for Satanya so out of the question that He merely laughs.
- Exploited: Sarah and Satanya strike a deal: Satanya plans on using her absolute evil to become the overlord of the demon realm, since even the vilest demons were once angels who fell from grace. Sarah, in return will send damned souls to her for their punishment.
- Defied:
- Satanya takes the first opportunity she can to become a better person.
- Sarah refuses to give up on the hope that Satanya takes up her offer and keeps offering. Whether Sarah's faith in Satanya making the right decision is foolish or justified remains to be seen.
- Discussed: "Call it a hunch, but I'm just not seeing any room for Satanya anywhere behind the Pearly Gates. Or within a thousand miles of them."
- Conversed: God enters Hell regularly to try and talk Satanya into accepting His grace.
- Implied: Satanya doesn't like anyone talking about "switching sides", in any context.
- Deconstructed: Satanya's predicament is the capstone of a protracted fall from being one of the most heroic people to ever live. Sarah becomes deeply depressed after she is eternally damned; if a person once so good can become totally irredeemable, what hope is there for anyone else?
- Reconstructed: God reminds Sarah that Satanya's choices were her own, and her desire not to be redeemed has no effect on anyone else's chances at salvation. Sarah's faith is promptly restored.
- Played for Laughs: Sarah doesn't take any of the coupons Satanya offers her because she doesn't want them redeemed either.
- Played for Drama: Sarah often ponders what else she could have done to save Satanya from eternal damnation.
