Basic Trope: A character ends up becoming someone that completely contradicts their own former values.
- Straight: Alice was once an All-Loving Hero with a Chronic Hero Syndrome, but ends up becoming a villainous Straw Nihilist with an It's All About Me mentality.
- Exaggerated: Alice goes from (seeming) Incorruptible Pure Pureness to an Omnicidal Maniac.
- Downplayed:
- Alice starts out as a cynical but caring Knight in Sour Armor but ends up as a cheerful but cruel Sociopathic Hero.
- Alice's vigilante group becomes just another criminal gang, due to Alice and her fellow founding members being slowed pushed out in favor of seemingly reformed criminals.
- Justified:
- Alice has had a Cynicism Catalyst.
- He Who Fights Monsters.
- Inverted: Alice, a Punch-Clock Minion with an F in Evil who was forced into villainous service no matter her distaste for it, eventually rediscovers the courage to defy her overlords, leave the wrong ways she wants nothing to do with, embrace her true good-aligned self and become The Paragon.
- Subverted: Alice restores her faith in humanity after Character Development.
- Double Subverted: Alice was faking it for her own purposes.
- Parodied: Alice changes her mind about her favorite ice cream flavor. Everyone acts like she's become the opposite of who she was.
- Zig-Zagged: Alice seems to slip into evil, but then is given very inconsistent characterization.
- Averted: Alice remains as an All-Loving Hero.
- Enforced: "We need to have a moral that even the best people can end up as something totally different." "How about we have the All-Loving Hero turn evil?"
- Lampshaded: "Alice...what happened? This isn't you at all."
- Invoked: Evulz delivers a Trauma Conga Line and "Break Them by Talking" lecture that destroys Alice's positive values.
- Exploited: A Knight Templar recruits Alice by giving her false hope that they can make the world better.
- Defied: After Alice pulls a Shoot the Dog, she remembers her heroic values and swears to never do it again.
- Discussed: "You used to be so kind and compassionate, but now you don't care about anyone. You've become the opposite of the person you once were."
- Conversed: "Woah, I just realized that Alice's personality is now the opposite of what it was at the beginning of the series!"
