Basic Trope: A sneak attack is more lethal than it would be otherwise.
- Straight: Alice the Rogue sneaks behind a guard and stabs him in the back with a dagger, which kills him instantly.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice does the same with a toothpick.
- Alice stabs the guard in the back, and kills everyone in the room.
- Alice kills a giant by stabbing him in the back.
- Downplayed:
- The attack leaves guard seriously injured, but able to fight back.
- The attack doesn't have to be strictly a sneak one, just being used from behind the enemy is enough.
- Justified: Alice attacked a weak point, that would be nigh-impossible to strike in face-to-face combat.
- Inverted: Alice has a skill that works only when the enemy faces and actively fights her.
- Subverted: Alice stabs the enemy in the back and kills him… But only because guard's armor has no back protection.
- Double Subverted: Every armor in the game has no back protection, even if its model/sprite/artwork shows otherwise. The result would be the same even if the guard wore the Armor of Invincibility.
- Parodied: Weaponless Alice sneaks on a guard and taps his shoulder. The guard dies anyway, and Alice muses on how convenient are these back attack multipliers.
- Zig Zagged: Different types of weapons have different Critical Hit multiplier values. While a dagger can deal massively increased damage from the back, a whip deals the same damage from any direction.
- Averted:
- The game has no stealth elements.
- Every enemy is spherical and have sensory organs/equipment that can sense in all directions. They have no back to speak of.
- Implied: Alice is seen inside a room and the corpses of the guards are outside with no signs of a struggle visible.
- Enforced: Developers of the game realise that sometimes, there are enemies who has to be killed. In the Combat, Diplomacy, Stealth trio the soldier can kill enemies face-to-face, and the diplomat can talk them to death. This leaves the spy with killing enemies from stealth.
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: The guards are equipped with full armor that covers their entire body and wear helmets with HUDs that alert them to anyone trying to sneak up on them.
- Deconstructed: ???
- Reconstructed: ???
