Basic Trope: A group protects its individuals fiercely.
- Straight: Bob gets attacked by Emperor Evulz. Alice and Charlie immediately jump into the fight and attack him.

- Emperor Evulz attacks Bob. Charlie attacks him.
- Justified:
- Bob, Alice, and Charlie are True Companions.
- Bob, Alice and Charlie have a Hive Mind or Synchronization. An attack on one is essentially an attack on all.
- The principle is in place to prevent Evulz from attempting to break the group apart by picking them off individually.
- Inverted:
- Emperor Evulz attacks Bob. Alice and Charlie cheer him on.
- Bob is most likely to be attacked by other members of his group.
- Subverted: Evulz attacks Bob. Alice and Charlie think for a moment, and then run away.
- Double Subverted: And then they come back with Dave and Eliza for additional support.
- Parodied: Bob, Alice, and Charlie spend so much time fighting each other's battles that they can't even remember whose enemies are whose anymore and have to ask them while they're fighting.
- Zig Zagged: Bob, Alice, and Charlie frequently intervene in each other's fights, but it's not clear whether it's out of anger or because they love fighting in general.
- Averted: No one attacks anyone else because of a wrong done to another.
- Enforced: The executives want a catalyst to make Alice and Charlie more formidable.
- Lampshaded: "No one messes with a member of our group and gets away with it!"
- Invoked: A scientist altered Bob, Alice and Charlie's minds to make them fiercely protective of each other.
- Exploited: Evulz attacks Bob to lure out Alice and Charlie so that he can defeat all three of them at once.
- Defied: Evulz isolates Bob before attacking so that Alice and Charlie can't rescue him.
- Discussed: "Sir, if we attack bob, Alice and Charlie are likely to take it as a personal offence."
- Conversed: "These people must really like each other if they react like this every time one of them gets hurt."
- Implied: Bob mentions offhandedly that his fellow drones will automatically be made aware of any threats to him.
