Basic Trope: The best defensive armor/item in the game.

  • Straight: In Tales of Troperia XXVII, the God-Forged Armor is the highest quality armor in the game in terms of defensive rating.
  • Exaggerated: It offers twice the defensive rating of the second-best armor in the game, and makes the wearer immune to Status Effects.
  • Downplayed: It has the highest defensive rating in the game, but other armors may still be preferable due to the enchantments and abilities they confer beyond simple damage reduction.
  • Justified: The armor is given to the party by the Ultimate Blacksmith God, who created it to be the best armor in the world to help defeat the Big Bad.
  • Inverted: Armor Is Useless
  • Subverted: It does offer the highest defensive rating in the game, but the gameplay is Rocket Tag-based and it is better to use lighter armors that allow for easier dodging.
  • Double Subverted: ...however, Stats Dissonance is in play and even though it appears that the armor will hinder your dodging ability, it does not, meaning you still gain the extra protection.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: The God-Forged Armor is the highest quality armor in the game in terms of defensive rating. However, the gameplay heavily favors dodging as enemy attacks and wearing heavy armor makes dodging more difficult, so most players stick to lighter armors even though they don't protect as much. But, there is an Equipment Upgrade feature and upgrading the God-Forged Armor makes it lighter and still viable.
  • Averted: No armor is the game is clearly "the best".
  • Enforced: The game is based on a book in which the gods grant the party this armor and it is clearly better than anything else, so the game is programmed to match.
  • Lampshaded: Upon acquiring the armor, party member Quirby quips "damn, this is way better than anything else we have!"
  • Exploited:

  • Deconstructed: The party has been chosen by the gods to defeat the Big Bad who seeks to usurp their power. Due to his actions, they aren't getting as much worship and are thus severely weakened. The party can ask them for various boons, including the God-Forged Armor, but doing so weakens them further and makes late-game challenges even more difficult. Thus, it is better to beat the game without the armor or other high-powered bonuses.
  • Reconstructed: ...after defeating the Big Bad, the gods are restored to full power and can grant all of the boons without issue, just in time for some extremely difficult post-game bonus dungeons and DLC content with an intentional Difficulty Spike.
