Basic Trope: A teacher that doesn't care much about teaching/grading.

  • Straight: Mrs. Troperson's lessons tend to be mostly just her telling the students a little bit about the lesson and letting them do a worksheet.
  • Exaggerated: Mrs. Troperson doesn't teach her students at all, or even give them any work to do. One does wonder how she manages to keep her job.
  • Downplayed: Mrs. Troperson gives a brief lesson and then lets the kids watch an educational video on the subject.
  • Justified:
    • Mrs. Troperson's students learn better this way.
    • Mrs. Troperson's class tends to be rather unruly, so she's making the class do the worksheet on their own due to them not listening to her.
    • Mrs. Troperson is apathetic about her job.
    • Mrs. Troperson didn't plan on being a teacher, but she couldn't find a better job she's passionate about.
    • Mrs. Troperson used to be an idealistic teacher who wants to make a difference in students' lives. But having low wages, disrespectful students, loads of work to grade, and no respect from her superiors had taken a toll on her.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: Mrs. Troperson seems to be doing this when she's introduced showing the class an educational video instead of teaching a lesson, but it turns out that the lesson is very simple and that watching an educational video was all they actually had to do.
  • Double Subverted: The lesson is simple because she simplified it.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: How much effort Mrs. Troperson puts into teaching the students tends to depend.
  • Averted:
    • There aren't any teachers.
    • Mrs. Troperson teaches normally.
  • Enforced: The show's creators didn't want to take up too much time with a scene inside a school, so they made the teacher more apathetic.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Students who are in need of a passing grade and don't want to expend much energy getting it take Mrs. Troperson's class, knowing that she doesn't give a F.
  • Defied: Mrs. Troperson is told to put more effort into her lessons.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: The teacher's lessons are never seen, but a kid mentions his assignment is "really easy for my grade" and/or that the teacher probably doesn't care about her job.
  • Deconstructed:
    • Mrs. Troperson's students don't learn the subject matter well and end up failing.
    • Mrs. Troperson gets fired for incompetence.
    • If teaching college students, Mrs. Troperson is given negative reviews on Rate my Professors. Future students take cues from those reviews and don't sign up for her courses.

Back to Apathetic Teacher. Your only homework is... eh, watch this video. I'll see it someday.
