Basic Trope: Animal characters become more anthropomorphic as the series of works they're from progress.

  • Straight: The animals in Furry Friends are talking animals that live in a jungle and behave like normal animals. As the sequels go on, they begin to stand on their hind legs, walk, cook and live in houses.
  • Exaggerated: The animals are normal animals that don't even talk and live in a jungle. The sequel turns them into anthropomorphic animals that live in a city, talk, use technology, and wear full clothes.
  • Downplayed: While the animals aren't fully anthropomorphic in the sequels, they begin to grow a bit more intelligent in the sequels.
  • Justified: The animals grow more intelligent over time.
  • Inverted: The animals start as anthropomorphic animals. In the sequels, they begin to become less intelligent, to the point where they become normal, non-talking animals in the finale.
  • Subverted: The animals seem to become more anthropomorphic... then it's revealed that they're just humans in realistic fursuits. The animals are still not anthropomorphic.
  • Double Subverted: The animals, however, are actually anthropomorphic; they just want to hide it from humans.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: Anthropomorphic Zig-Zag
  • Averted: The animals don't get anthropomorphic over time.
  • Enforced: "We need to get these people to like Furry Friends. No one isn't even getting it!" "Oh! How about we make them anthropomorphic? That way, we can get kids to get the sequels!" "Good idea!"
  • Lampshaded: "Remember when we were just animals on four feet, scared of predators and lived in a jungle?"
  • Invoked: A Mad Scientist kidnaps all the animals and genetically modified them to become anthropomorphic.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: The animals begin to try to turn back into normal animals. It works.
  • Discussed: "What if we and all the other animals suddenly became like these scary humans? That's scary!"
  • Conversed: "Are they really trying to appeal to furries now?"
