Basic Trope: A character has eyes like those of an animal.
- Straight: Bob's eyes have reptilian slit pupils and large yellow irises.
- Exaggerated: Bob's eyes also have nictitating membranes and the eyelids are covered in scales.
- Downplayed: Bob's eyes have gecko-like slit pupils but are otherwise ordinary for a human.
- Justified: Bob is of partial draconic heritage.
- Inverted: Bob is an iguana whose eyes look just like those of a human.
- Subverted:
- The reptile-like demon Bob wears black sunglasses which may make you think he is hiding what his eyes look like, but when he takes them off they're no different from a normal human's eyes except for being red in color.
- Bob's 'slit pupils' are actually novelty patterned contact lenses.
- Averted: Although Bob has several reptilian characteristics such as claws, a forked tongue, and scaly skin, his eyes are just the eyes of an ordinary human.
- Enforced: Bob is supposed to be the Big Bad, but isn't very intimidating, so this is used to make him creepier.
- Lampshaded: "Wow, those lizard eyes are cool."
- Exploited:
- Alice is a Cat Girl with feline eyes. It is thus easy to see her when she's trying to sneak around in the dark, because of her eyeshine.
- Alice has eyes like those of a hawk, so her vision is vastly superior to an ordinary person.
