Basic Trope: Characters are named according to the alphabet.
- Straight:
- A family consists of Alice, Bob, Charlie, Danielle, and Ellie.
- Andy and Amelia have a daughter named Amanda and a son named Arthur.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice and Bob are two of many Massive Numbered Siblings from A-Z.
- There's parents Andy and Amelia, children Amanda and Arthur, grandparents Aaron and Athena, uncles Antonio and Alexander, cousins Adrian, Abigail, and Avery...
- Downplayed:
- There's just Alice and Bob in the family that fit the naming theme.
- A pair of sisters are named Kylie and Bethany, both having names ending in "y" sounds but spelled differently.
- Justified: Andy and Amelia like Added Alliterative Appeal.
- Inverted: Letters of the alphabet are changed to start with peoples' names.
- Subverted: Andy and Amelia have a baby girl, whom they name Carol.
- Double Subverted: "Carol" is just a nickname; her birth name is Ava.
- Parodied: The birth certificate for Andy and Amelia's kids has the letter "A" pre-printed on at the start.
- Zig-Zagged: Andy and Amelia have kids, Amanda and Francine. Francine later transitions and changes her name to Alana. Amanda goes on to marry a man named Anthony, and they have kids named Artemis and Clyde...
- Averted: A family consists of parents Kyle and Samantha, and their daughter Carly. There's no theme between the names.
- Enforced: "Let's give all the characters the same first initial, so you can tell they're a part of this family."
- Lampshaded: "Andy, Amelia, Amanda, and Arthur? I'm sensing a theme here."
- Invoked: Andy and Amelia agree to name their kids Amanda and Arthur, since they like the theme.
- Exploited: Wendy is able to infer that Arthur is related to Amanda, Andy, and Amelia because his name starts with the same letter as the rest of his family.
- Defied: Andy and Amelia agree to name their next child Harper and break the chain.
- Discussed: "Do you think Andy and Amelia intentionally pick out names for their kids that start with A?"
- Conversed: "If I met a family with so many 'A' names, I don't think I could keep track of them."
- Played for Laughs: The first letter is clearly shoehorned in: there's Andy, Amelia, Acraig, Astan, Apatrick, and Agloria. People are quick to point out that these aren't even real names.
- Played for Drama: Being simply part of a theme makes Amanda and Arthur feel more like "templates" than individual people.
- Played for Horror: Everyone in Andy and Amelia's family are Pod People.
