Basic Trope: Recovery items pop up after a Boss Battle
- Straight: You beat Jason Bloodspiller. Several Healing Potions drop from his body.
- Exaggerated: You're literally showered with Healing Potions after beating any boss in the game. Much more than your HP will ever need.
- Downplayed: A small Healing Potion drops from Jason's beaten corpse.
- Justified:
- Jason meant to use the potions for himself while dealing with you (if you let Jason actually heal himself too much during the fight, you won't get dropped potions after beating him)
- The healing item is given to you by Jason himself as example of Villain's Dying Grace (or just given to you if he survives being defeated, either due to having a Heel Realization or being a Worthy Opponent.
- Jason was transporting them to the medical bay when you attacked.
- Inverted:
- You beat Jason. Something drops from his body and you pick it up. It's a Poison Mushroom!!
- Suspicious Videogame Generosity
- Subverted: Jason drops a Healing Potion after his defeat. You try to pick it up, but then the potion itself transforms into Jason's true form.
- Double Subverted: Beating True Jason causes several Healing Potions to appear from his body.
- Parodied:
- Jason tosses a(n actual) salad after his defeat. Bob eats it, and as it replenishes his HP, he speaks directly to the camera, to explain to the good kids at home, that eating your veggies will make you healthier.
- Jason drops a jar of his own piss after his defeat. Drinking it still heals you somehow!
- Zig Zagged: There's a 50/50 chance of Jason dropping a Healing Potion upon defeat.
- Averted:
- There are no healing items in the game.
- Jason doesn't drop any healing items.
- Enforced: Jason was just a Mini-Boss, which means the level is far from over (or the game is a Metroidvania). The developers were understanding enough to give you some recovery items so that you could tackle the rest of the level fairly.
- Lampshaded:
- "Thank god! I didn't think I was going to make it to the hospital in this state..."
- Jason's ghost complains about how you raid his 1st aid supplies after facing you.
- Invoked: Jason stocks some Healing Potions on his coat before dealing with you.
- Exploited:
- Jason's level is one of the shortest, easiest levels in the game and his drops are plentiful. You keep replaying the same level and beating the same Jason again and again, stockpiling enough healing items for tougher challenges farther in the game.
- You're attacking Jason in the first place so that his after-battle healing can restore the health of your ailing sibling.
- Defied: Jason makes sure to get rid of any potential healing items in the vicinity of the room you battle him.
- Discussed: "Killing the boss should leave behind a sizable pool of healing items, right?"
- Conversed: "Considering how hard this game is, I'm grateful the developers thought to put a healing fountain after the boss room."
- Played For Laughs: You pick up the pile of Healing Potions and chug all of them down at once like a crazed frat boy.
- Played For Drama: You eventually find out that the Healing Potion Jason dropped was a gift from his now deceased mother and his most precious object... and you took it away from him.
- Played For Horror: You eventually find out what those Healing Potions dropped by bosses are made of... and now you wish you didn't.
Now pick up those potions and continue to After Boss Recovery.
