Basic Trope: The relationship between two characters are different from the original adaptation.
- Straight: In Troperville Adventures, Alex and Bob are best friends, but in The Film of the Book, Troperville Chronicles, Alex and Bob are rivals who hate each other.
- Exaggerated: Alex and Bob are good friends in Troperville Adventures, but in Troperville Chronicles, Alex and Bob are mortal enemies. Doubles if Bob is the Big Bad.
- Downplayed:
- Alex and Bob are close friends in Troperville Adventures, but in Troperville Chronicles, while they remain friends, they don't get along very well.
- Alex is much older and more experienced in Troperville Chronicles than in Troperville Adventures. Therefore Bob serves as a brotherly mentor rather then a fatherly one.
- Justified:
- Troperville Chronicles is a Darker and Edgier adaptation compared to Troperville Adventures.
- Either Alex or Bob had a Adaptation Personality Change which changed the way they behave around each other.
- Troperville Chronicles takes place before Alex and Bob got to know each other and become friends.
- Troperville Chronicles takes place after Alex and Bob have had some sort of falling out, and are now enemies.
- Inverted: There cannot be inversions, since any relationship change would qualify as this trope.
- Subverted: Alex and Bob in Troperville Chronicles become Fire-Forged Friends by the end of the season.
- Double Subverted: ...only to bicker and antagonize each other at the start of the second season, though they are mostly Vitriolic Best Buds.
- Parodied:
- Alice and Bob, brother and sister vigilante team find out about Troperville Vigilantees based upon them and are thoroughly squicked when it turns out they were assumed to be unrelated and made lovers.
- In Troperville Adventures Alex struggles to attack a Shapeshifter impersonating Bob until the shapeshifter makes the mistake of sadistically gloating. In Troperville Chronicles Alex eagerly bets the tar of the the shapeshifter as soon as it transforms into Bob.

- Averted: Alex and Bob's relationship is just the same as it was in the original.
- Enforced: "I want to show the fans a new intake on Alex and Bob's relationship. Why not make them bitter towards each other?"
