Pantheon / GUAG Ranger Strike Force

Go To

Many factions have their top elite fighters. The Americans have the Navy SEALs, the British have the Special Air Service, the Imperium of Man have the Adeptus Astartes, the UNSC has the Spartans. The GUAG has these fighters.

Created by BJ Blazkowicz and Steve Rogers, the Ranger Strike Force was initially an autonomous division led by then Captain Martin Walker known as the Alpha-Omega Force, handling the ugly parts even the GUAG couldn't handle. A disastrous first mission saw the initial team dissolved and later reformed as the Alliance's elite special forces team, each member an One-Man Army. The Ranger Strike Force takes on a variety of roles, from striking behind enemy lines, providing support for the main Combat Division, to even being sent to wipe out armies singlehandedly. Commander Shepard provides assistance and info for the team as well as fighting alongside them occasionally.

Not to be confused with the division with a different type of Ranger.

Strike Team Commanders

Steven Grant Rogers, God of Pride for One's Nation and Head of Defense (Captain America, The Captain, Cap, Capsicle, Weapon I, Commander Steve Rogers, The Star Spangled Man With A Plan, The Sentinel of Liberty)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: The American Flag and his razor-edged Boomerang Shield.
  • Alignment: Good - there are arguments for Lawful, Neutral and Chaotic
  • Rank: General, formerly Major
  • How he started the Force: Was one of the original members of Alpha Omega Force before Walker ruined everything on their first mission and he was tasked with cleaning things up. In the midst of the catastrophe, his friend BJ approached him to and requested help to create an elite team out of the old AOF to fight 'the really tough guys the others never could. As commander of the GUAG Superhero Division with a strong moral compass, Cap joined up immediately.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: Very High. Cosmos has much less moral scruples than people like Director Fury or Stark, so that's a bonus. Loyalty is one of his strongest virtues so long as he's promised fairness in his promises to her, so he's loyal. A two-way promise means many years of loyal service.
  • Threat Level: High. Same reason as Superman, but Cap's bigger because he has no superpowers. At least traditional superpowers. The Super Soldier serum enhances his body functions to peak efficiency and far above that of even physically fit humans, essentially making him an Intermediate God at his peak. Add to that a deep sense of justice and idealism and you get one of the most dangerous people in the GUAG.
  • Position: Co-founder and Team Commander, Contact to GUAG Command

Commander Shepard, Deity of Gathering Unusual Parties (The Butcher of Torfannote , Shepard-Commander, Skipper, Loco/Lola, Solomon/Allison Gunn, Hero of the Citadel, Conqueror of the Collectors, and Savior of the Galaxy, The Shepard)

  • Greater God (Overdeity during the Control Ending of 3)
  • Symbol: The N7 logo on his/her chest armor
  • Alignment: Paragon/Renegade/Somewhere in between
  • Rank: Admiral, formerly Commander
  • Reason for Joining: Due to his experience in the GUAG Command, Shepard offered resources and help to the Rangers as well as taking part in operations alongside them occasionally. While BJ and Steve Rogers lead their teams in battle, Shepard usually provides Mission Control unless he partakes in it.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: Cosmos is the combination of the resourcefulness of The Illusive Man, the good reputation of the Alliance, only without those ignorant Councilors and Ambassador Udina. Shepard feels REALLY comfortable serving under her. Though when in Renegade mood the Commander still has a habit of cutting her off during communications.
  • Threat Level to Melkor: EXTREME. As said, killing doesn't destroy Shepard. It just pisses him/her off. Plus, he/she is noted for his/her remarkable charisma and can gather many races despite differences under one banner. One hell of a Commander and regarded as one of the most lethal members of the Pantheon.
  • Position: Strategist, Mission Control, Tactician, Manager and Shock Trooper.

Colonel James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes, God of Escalating Weaponry Barrage (War Machine, Iron Man, Iron Patriot, Jim Rhodes, Commander Rhodes, Shellshock, The Mighty Atom, Whiskey Mike)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: A red-lighted Arc Reactor
  • Alignment: Lawful Good with doses of Lawful Neutral
  • Rank: Colonel, formerly Lieutenant Colonel
  • Reason for Recruitment: A more recent addition to the Strike Force, James Rhodes was dispatched to keep an eye on Rogers as well as serve as the team's second-in-command.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: High. He has a strong sense of duty to his friends and the United States, and as a loyal and trustworthy man, he considers Cosmos worthy of such loyalty. Even that notwithstanding, he needs a job and the GUAG is probably the only military gig he can stomach
  • Threat Level: Medium to High. His armour was designed by Tony himself to be a One-Man Army and that's what he's gonna do.
  • Position: Aide-de-Camp to the Commander, Second-in-Command

Strike Team Leaders

William J. Blazkowicz, God of Nazi Hunters (B.J. Blazkowicz, Blazko, Terror Billy, The American, Big Bad Wolf, Johnny Cowboy, Shimshon)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: The OSA emblem
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Rank: Lieutenant Colonel, formerly Major
  • How he started the Force: Was When BJ joined the GUAG to hunt down Nazis in the GUAE, he noticed an apparent lack of manpower and too few fighters. Noticing this, using his experience as an ex-US Army Captain and key member of a anti-Nazi resistance force, he and his friend Steve Rogers decided to gather an elite team to strike the enemy and to relieve the main fighters.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: High. She is tough on the subject of Nazism and its inherent anti-Semitic ideology and he can appreciate him for that
  • Threat Level: Very High. He himself is a unstoppable One-Man Army with thousands of Nazis, Nazi robots and two big name generals in his kill list. Not even being beheaded stopped him.
  • Position: Co-founder and Field Leader

Cloud Strife, God of Giant Swords (Spiky, the SOLDIER, Chocobo Head, the Buster Basher, SOLDIER 1st Class, Thunderhead, Guardian of the Lifestream (And Orphans), Blonde Zack, Croudo-kun, Ms. Cloud)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: His Buster Sword.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • Rank: Major, formerly Captain
  • Reason for Recruitment: His sword skills, alongside with relatability to Walker, is the reason why he joined.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: High.
  • Threat Level: High.
  • Position: Swordsman

Yuji Sakai, God of Negating Common Weaknesses (Snake of the Festival, Silver the Second, World-Wandering Ascetic, Yu-Chan)

  • Overdeity
  • Symbol: The Midnight Lost Child, Blutsauger sword, Bakuyagai armor
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • Rank: Major, formerly Captain
  • Reason for Recruitment: In the House of War, the two became great friends and when Walker asked him, he was reluctant, but knew he was needed.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos:
  • Threat Level:
  • Position:

Setsuna F. Seiei, Divine Patron of Dramatic Atheism (The first true Innovator, Jihad-Kun)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: The Celestial Being emblem, The Twin Drives, and recently, the ELS.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • Rank: Major, formerly Captain
  • Reason for Recruitment: Is disgusted by war but was interested in Captain America's offer that his team is not a bunch of savages. Setsuna was planned to be one of the original four members, but issues delayed him causing later causing his addition later on. He is also in the GUAG Gundam Corps.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: She believes in his mission to end wars and understands his claim that he is a Gundam. Setsuna, on the other hand, reminds him of a certain princess who became sort of a kindred spirit to him.
  • Threat Level: Very High. The fact that Setsuna has evolved beyond the stated limits of Innovators (with help from the ELS) has caused quite a worry to Char. And that's not even counting the abilities of his main unit, the Gundam-00 Qan[T] - a powerful Game-Breaker in line with some of the most powerful mechs of the GUAG.
  • Position: Close-Combat Pilot

Strike Team Members

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John-117, God of Super Soldiers (SPARTAN-117, Sierra 117, the Master Chief, the Demon, the Human Champion, Reclaimer, Halo, The Super Soldier, a Pretty Cool Guy, Traitor)

  • Greater God
  • Symbol: A MJOLNIR Helmet, which has varied throughout the years. Currently a shattered MJOLNIR helmet.
  • Alignment: Lawful Good (though he will foray into Neutral Good at times). As of Escalation and Guardians, possibly Chaotic Good.
  • Rank: Master Chief Petty Officer
  • Reason for Recruitment: Already a legendary Super-Soldier and valued troop commander in the GUAG, Rogers re-assigned him here for his long history of fighting against the Covenant forces.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: Very High. John-117 personally respects Cosmos to the highest of degrees as she reminds him of his AI compatriot Cortana.
  • Threat Level: Very High to Extreme. He is a Super-Soldier with years of experience defeating both the Covenant and the Flood with blood, sweat and tears. Even among the SPARTAN recruits he is legendary, which is telling since they're the best soldiers the UNSC has to offer. His kills are so well-known that even Melkor knows his reputation.
  • Position: Shock Trooper

The Male Sole Survivor, The Sole Surviving Deity (Nate, Blue - by Piper)

  • Intermediate Deity
  • Symbol: A Vault 111 Jumpsuit And A Pair Of Wedding Rings
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Rank: Lieutenant (navy)
  • Reason for Recruitment: While the female Sole Survivor hasn't joined the force, the male one was selected by Steve Rogers for his service in the US Army before the Great War and his dedication to protect his home from threats including raiders and mutants.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: High
  • Threat Level: High. He is not only a trained soldier, he is also the commander of a paramilitary resistance peacekeeping force in the Wasteland. He is also trained to use Power Armor which he frequently uses in battle.
  • Position: Specialist/Tank

Sam "Serious" Stone, God of War Sequences (Serious Sam)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: The Serious Bomb.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • Rank: Captain, formerly First Lieutenant
  • Reason for Recruitment: He heard Mental was aiding Melkor's conquest, and killing Mental is his number 1 goal.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: High
  • Threat Level: Very high. Countless mooks and elite mooks have fallen before Sam armed with a minigun.
  • Position: Gunner

Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori, God and Goddess of Warrior Humanity, Never Giving Up and Neural Bridges

  • Intermediate Gods
  • Symbol: Gipsy Danger
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Rank: First Lieutenants
  • Reason for Recruitment: Both Raleigh and Mako are members of an elite special force in their own dimension, and that, their stopping a class-3 apocalypse, and Yuji putting in a good word for them, combined to convince Rogers that including them was a good decision. Their skyscraper-sized Jaeger probably also helped.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos:
  • Threat Level:
  • Position: Rangers

Eugene "Flash" Thompson, God of Character Development (Colonel Thompson, Agent Venom, Venom IV, Anti-Venom)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: A Stylized White Spider.
  • Alignment: Neutral Good, Chaotic Evil when Venom takes over
  • Rank: Sergeant, formerly Corporal
  • Reason for Recruitment: Due to the Venom Symbiote's potential danger, and the fact that he was an outstanding solider, Rogers put Flash into The AOF the minute of his ascension. Flash proved his worth by singlehandedly saving Captain America from Wilhelm Strasse.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos:
  • Threat Level:
  • Position:

KOS-MOS, Goddess of Robot Girls and The Measure of Inhumanity (Kosmos Obey Strategic Multiple Operation Systems)

  • Intermediate Goddess
  • Symbol: Her Visor with the words "Ye Shall Be as Gods" inscribed upon them.
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral (Eventually Lawful Good)
  • Rank: Private First Class
  • Reason for Recruitment: KOS-MOS is one of the strongest weapons in existence, capable of putting down Greater Gods. Once chaos offered her assistance and she agreed to follow Rogers's orders, there was little question remaining.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos:
  • Threat Level:
  • Position:

Alex Mason, God of Triggered Brainwashing (Willem van der Berg Al)

  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: A watch that shows a random hour each time you look at it.
  • Alignment: Lawful Good when of his own will, Chaotic Good or Lawful Evil when under brainwashing, depending on which one.
  • Rank: First Lieutenant
  • Reason for Recruitment: Alex's history is what gave interest to Captain America. Being a spy, soldier and a Determinator is what makes up for Mason's skills. They also chose him because his brainwashed mode can be of good use, provided that no one from the GUAE is controlling him.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos:
  • Threat Level:
  • Position:

Fox McCloud, Member of the Divine Squadron of Dogfights (Fox: Fox Jr.,Leader of Star Fox, Star Fox, Foxy Boy, Pup)

  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: An Arwing.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • Rank: Staff Sergeant, formerly Sergeant
  • Reason for Recruitment: Rogers picks him for his awesome piloting skills and being a reliable soldier. Not to mention he ended several wars on his own, at his own request.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos:
  • Threat Level:
  • Position: Space trooper

Private James Ramirez, God of Soldiers that Do Everything

  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: His Cool Shades and The U.S. Army Rangers Logo
  • Alignment: Lawful Good
  • Rank: Private First Class, formerly Private
  • Reason for Joining: Ordered by Foley to join the Strike Force
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: Somewhat high, although he mostly follows his sergeants words.

  • Position: Errand boy/Jack of all trades/frontline soldier

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, Divine Training Instructor From Hell (Sergeant Hartman, Gunny, The Senior Drill Instructor, John Wayne)

  • Demigod
  • Symbol: Several ribbons he earned as a Marine.
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral (seen as Lawful Evil by those assigned to him)
  • Rank: Gunnery Sergeant
  • Reason for Recruitment: Initially refused to join the greater GUAG because he thinks they are 'pansies who never learnt to suck the tail of a dead mongoose'. In layman's terms, the fantastical setting and lack of proper discipline in his eyes makes none of the Alliances proper armies in his eyes. Only very grudgingly joined the Captain's team because they're the elite who actually carry themselves like soldiers.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: Zilch. His only true loyalty is to his beloved Marine Corps!
  • Threat Level: Medium to High. Say what you will about his attitude, he's a loyal and committed soldier and will complete whatever task has been assigned to him with all the fervour he has. His previous reputation as a terrifying and brutal drill instructor whose PT drills have forced Intermediate Deities to tears has been noted by enemy forces. By real-life standards though, he is a poor one for using physical force on recruits and driving Private Pyle insane. Colonel Blazkowicz has picked up on this and sent him to sensitivity training.
  • Position: Senior Drill Instructor

Team Metal, Patron Saints of Elite Soldiers (Sandman: Metal 0-1, Boss, G13; Truck: Metal 0-2; Grinch: Metal 0-3; Derek Westbrook: Frost, Metal 0-4)

  • Reason for Joining: To protect the free world from the threat of evil.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: Loyalty given
  • Threat Level: Medium when alone, High when working together.
  • Position: Frontline Support Squad

Recurring Guest Stars

Captain Martin Walker, God of Heroes Who Become Villains

  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: An American flag flown upside down, the universal signal for distress
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, can slip into Chaotic Evil. Deluded himself into believing he was Chaotic Good
  • Former Rank in AOF: Major
  • How and why he was picked to join, and subsequently discharged: After his ascension, Walker was initially approached by the Pantheon for a position in the Alpha-Omega Force in order for him to achieve redemption, an offer that, unfortunately, was accepted by the heroically inclined Walker, who chose to, on his first op, open fire on the evacuation team for Dubai. What followed was a catastrophic first mission in which Walker ignored orders and gunned down countless enemies, fellow soldiers, and civilians, all justified with Walker's refrain of "I Did What I Had to Do''. The Pantheon immediately removed Walker from the position, replaced him with Captain America, and forbade him from ever even getting near anyone from the Force again. Their position was only strengthened after a psychological evaluation discovered that his mental state was dangerously unstable at best and schizophrenic or acutely psychotic at worst.
  • Future Status: While not completely banned from joining the Forces eventually, Walker himself acknowledges that he has a long way to go to even be fit to serve.

The Doom Slayer, The One-Man Army (The Marine, Doomguy, 12.0 on a 10.0 Scale of Badness, A Berserker-Packing Man-And-A-Half, The Boy Packin' 80 Pounds of Heavenly Joy, The Bane of Hell Itself, The Doom Slayer, The Unchained Predator, The Hell Walker)

  • Greater God
  • Symbol: The helmet of the Praetor Suit with the BFG-9000 and a Chainsaw crossed behind it.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good (Hey, he hates demons and likes fluffy bunnies).
  • Reason for Joining: While not an official member of the GUAG, BJ's close connections with the Doom Slayer allows him to request assistance from him. The Slayer has started to help them more after the demons in the GUAE killed his pet rabbit Daisy.
  • Loyalty to Cosmos: While he does respect Cosmos, the Doom Slayer's history with a certain CO greatly incensed his distrust towards authority figures, preferring to take his own orders and thus making him ineligible for official Strike Force membership.
  • Threat to Melkor: Extreme. He is THE One-Man Army.
  • Position: Heavy Shock Trooper, Crowd Control. Due to the immense amount of destruction he tends to leave in his wake, the Slayer is typically only deployed against sufficiently large and/or dangerous forces/individuals.
