Pantheon / GUAC The Lab

Go To

No organization as dedicated to knowledge and wisdom as the GUAC would be complete without a truly impressive research facility. It is here that Lucifer’s forces probe the mysteries of the universe in hopes of turning them against their creator and using them for the betterment of mankind. At least, that’s the basic idea: many of the individuals working in The Lab simply wish to take a bite of science’s most forbidden fruits, regardless of the outcome…or the cost.

In addition to the main research facility, The Lab holds a library second only to Hermaeus Mora’s Apocrypha, presided over by Lilith and filled with books often considered ‘divisive’: from religious texts to toe-curling smut, if it’s ever been banned or burned, you’ll find it in the library. Lucifer’s intent is to scour the multiverse for these books and preserve them for posterity before opening the library to everyone, so that all may gain knowledge and wisdom.

House Leaders

Mao, God of Schools For Evil, The Lab's Head of Research and Development (Dean of Evil Academy, Netherworld's No. 1 Honor Student)

  • Rank: Intermediate God (Overdeity if fully becoming Dark Mao)
  • Symbol: His Evil Academy jacket and glasses
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Insists that it's Chaotic Evil)
  • Reason for Joining: To experiment. Duh. Also, he reasons that the GUAC is the only faction any true demon should join. This made him clash with Laharl, who joined GUAG.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: Medium. While he acknowledges Lucifer's philosophy as correct, he is by extension willing to turn on the Chaos Lord as soon as it serves his ends. His loyalty to his friends (Most of whom joined the GUAG) is also a question of concern.
  • Threat Level: Low to GUAG. He has his loyalty to his friends in GUAG and even if he were to fight them, Laharl rivals him in power as does Raspberyl who can prevent Mao from crossing his boundaries. To the other alliances, Very High. Mao has knowledge and power in equal measure, and in the event that "Dark Mao" surfaces, he's practically an uncontrollable destructive force.
  • Mao's dedication to experimenting coupled with his raw power made him a shoe-in for Head of Research and Development. He may have even become a Lord of Chaos if he hadn't turned down the position. In any case, he has become a valued member of the forces of Chaos, and spends most of his time experimenting on the steady supply of POWs from the GUAL that the Morningstar Battalion brings in.

Lilith, Goddess of Feather Boa Constrictor, Librarian of the GUAC (Yuriko, The First Wife, The Black Samurai)

  • Intermediate Goddess
  • Symbol: A snake wrapped around an apple
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, with strong leanings toward Chaotic Evil
  • Reason for joining: A longtime friend of Lucifer and devout follower of Chaos
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: High: the two have worked together since time immemorial, and it's clear to anyone paying attention that there's a powerful bond between them. Lucifer has stated that she is to run The Lab if Mao were to be incapacitated.
  • Threat to the Alliances: Medium: Despite impressive combat skills, Lilith usually stays off the front lines, preferring to care for and distribute the forbidden knowledge of the GUAC's library. This alone makes her a threat, though: despite the GUAC's preference for combat, Lucifer knows full well that giving knowledge and wisdom to the right people can bring down the mightiest empire, and Lilith is a genius at convincing people to sneak a peak...

Mammon, Unholy Representative of Attractive Demons, Treasurer of the GUAC and The Lab's Chief Alchemist (Demon Lord of Greed)

  • Greater Goddess
  • Symbol: Her Statue
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good (Chaotic Neutral on the clock)
  • Reason For Joining: Press-ganged into joining the GUAC after Lady Lucifer's ill-fated coup
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: Medium. Chief Alchemist is a lucrative position in the organization: as long as the research grants keep coming, she's got no reason to complain.
  • Threat to the Alliances: High. On top of being a powerful fighter, Mammon's a smart cookie: a shrewd financier who oversees the GUAC's treasury and a brilliant chemist who has come up with all manner of poisons and Super Serums for the Morningstar Battalion.

Belphegor, Unholy Representative of Attractive Demons, Head of Cyber-Warfare (Demon Lord of Sloth)

  • Greater Goddess
  • Symbol: Her Statue
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Reason For Joining: Apparently Lady Lucifer picked a fight she shouldn't have and got them press-ganged into the GUAC. At least, that's what she's been told. Honestly, she wasn't paying attention.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: Who?
  • Threat to the Alliances: Flip-flops between None and High. Usually Belphegor is too damn lazy to contribute to the GUAC. In the rare event she's motivated to do so, she's an absolute menace: on top of being a powerful fighter, she's created effective VR training programs for the Morningstar Battalion, and is an ingenious hacker who has stolen invaluable data and wreaked havoc on the other Alliances with all sorts of malware.

The Medic, God of Shoot the Medic First

  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: His Medigun on the "Uber" setting, his dove Archimides
  • Alignment: VERY Chaotic Neutral
  • Reason for joining: He was once a part of the GUAE's Mutation Lair, but after noticing The Pyro's allegiance to the GUAC followed by Lucifer's and his mercenaries suggestions, he reluctantly agreed on switching to the GUAC. However, Melkor was not entirely pleased and decided to make a large talk with The Medic's decisions. He still failed to convince him back.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: The Medic is only loyal to Science (and only Mad Science at that), but since Lucifer lets him experiment freely on anyone under his care, The Medic gleefully serves under him.
  • Threat to the Alliances: VERY HIGH. Not only does he heal mooks with disturbing speed, he also can Ubercharge them and unleash hordes of superpowered cannon fodder.

Doctor Boom, God of Balance (Sparky Uberthruster, Dr. Balanced, Dr. Value)

  • Greater God (In reality a Lesser God)
  • Symbol: His army of Boom bots.
  • Alingment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Reason for joining: Was approached by Lucifer himself to join the GUAC and immediately accepted. Although he could fit fine in the Morningstar Battalion, he instead chose The Lab to mass produce his Boom Bots for the GUAC forces.
  • Loyalty To Lucifer: Medium. While he is grateful that Lucifer provides him with the necessary elements to continue creating Boom Bots, he usually minds his own business and doesn't get involved too much in the GUAC.
  • Threat to the Alliances: Medium To High. He commands a really dangerous army of explosive robots and he himself is a force to be reckoned with. The only thing that might shoot him down is calling his old nemesis, The Big Game Hunter.

Calvin and Hobbes, Gods of Calvinball

  • Lesser Gods
  • Symbol: G.R.O.S.S. Newspaper Hats
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (both, but Hobbes can slip into True Neutral)
  • Reason for Joining: To defy YHVH, who would dare to destroy free will through schools.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: High for Calvin, Moderate for Hobbes. The former sees Lucifer as a champion of free will and the ability of man to do whatever he wants whenever he wants, while Hobbes is more cautious about the lengths the Lightbringer would go to to achieve those goals.
  • Threat Level to the Alliances: Low by themselves, but as masters of Calvinball, it is their duty to help train the forces of Chaos in understanding and mastering unpredictable fighting styles. In addition, Calvin is intelligent enough to understand the full capabilities of cardboard-box science, creating a time-machine, duplicator, and transmogrifier out of the same box: this makes him a great asset to The Lab.
  • Calvin and Hobbes are unique among members of the GUAC in that unlike the others, they didn't go through the Amala Gauntlet the standard way; instead chosen by Lucifer himself to serve as his second opinion. If ''they'' can spot any flaws in his plans, said ideas are immediately reanalyzed for corrections. In addition, their antics are often used to keep moral among the troops up.

Nine and Twelve, Gods of Far Eastern Terrorists (Sphinx, Arata Kokonoe (Nine), Tōji Hisami (Twelve))

  • Lesser Gods, Demigods individually
  • Symbol: Two crows with the word VON in the background
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral with Chaotic Good goals
  • Reason for Joining: Lucifer offered them membership after their first bombing, knowing that the GUAG wouldn't tolerate for their methods, they joined the GUAC.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: Medium. While they respect Lucifer for seeking freedom, they will defect if Lucifer goes too far.
  • Threat Level to the Alliances: High. While their plans don't wish to kill people, the amount of property they could do us staggering and deals blows of the other Alliances' funds.
  • They act as strategists for the GUAC when Lucifer wishes for a scheme that does not actively hurt people. During these times, the two have the the authority level of a Lord of Chaos and could command other members.

Cave Johnson, God of The Pursuit of Pointless Knowledge

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: The Aperture Science Logo
  • Alignment: Chaotic Stupid
  • Reason for Joining: There's a lot more potential for SCIENCE to be expanded without those damn safety laws.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: Medium. Science knows no loyalty except to SCIENCE! This fits the GUAC best, but if made a better offer...
  • Threat Level: As the man responsible for GLaDOS, Cave Johnson is considered a man to be feared, or at least be cautious of. With an obsession for go-nowhere experiments and creating fantastic items for mundane and totally unsuitable purposes, Johnson is a special type of crazy.

The Chaos Insurgency, Divine Group of Varying Characterization (The Insurgency, C.I., Red Right Hand)

  • Intermediate Deities
  • Symbol: Their logo
  • Alignment: Unknown, but tethers between Chaotic Neutral and Chaotic Evil
  • Reason for Joining: They believe chaos and the usage of anomalous items to bring a new age of prosperity which Lucifer approves of.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: Ambiguous, given the group's shadowy nature.
  • Threat Level: High. The number of lethal SCPs the Insurgency has on hand increases the threat of the GUAC hundredfold, so much so that the historically neutral SCP Foundation is willing to work with the GUAG to bring them down and re-contain their SCPs.
  • They provide many anomalous objects for The Lab to study, and has spearheaded several important projects on their behalf.

Serpent, God of Daring To Be Struck Down With Hatred

  • Intermediate God, borderline Greater God when Biometal W is awakened
  • Symbol: The mark of Slither Inc
  • Alignment: Lawful Evil
  • Reason for joining: Chaos will allow him to change society through the survival of the fittest.
  • Loyalty to Lucifer: Medium. As The Social Darwinist he believes Lucifer's methods will destroy the status quo and let people remove pain and suffering from the world. However he questions if chaos might simply create a new, more violent status quo. And he is ultimately a pawn of Dr Weil/Biometal W
  • Threat Level: Medium at base power, high when transformed. He's a Villain with Good Publicity and skilled at manipulating Biometals and Cyber-Elves, along with The Power of Hate.
