Suffice it to say, this is not a series typically known for producing Nightmare Fuel, so it stands out that much more when it does.

  • While Trixie and Katya have a penchant for leaning into absurdism, Ep. 134, their episode on fighting, has a segment where Trixie discusses an incident where she was carjacked. The editors cut back on a lot of their usually high energy visuals to underscore the seriousness of what Trixie is talking about, and Katya is visibly horrified the entire time. It's a stark shift to the usual tone of the series to have one of the iconic duo talking about a genuine trauma in a way that doesn't come with a built-in punchline.
    • The resolution of this incident zigzags Nightmare Fuel with Moment of Awesome: The thief stole Trixie's iPhone, which had the Find My iPhone function turned on. She used that to have the police track her phone right to the thief's home, and they got it back. However, when asked if she wanted to press charges for the assault and theft, Trixie declined because this happened a week before she was set to leave for the filming of Drag Race. So ever the workaholic, she decided against pursuing charges in favor of a gig with potential for being highly lucrative (a choice which obviously paid off for someone who is now likely the franchise's most successful participant bar its own namesake). After getting her phone back later on, Trixie found that the thief had given the phone to his girlfriend, who took a number of selfies with it. Trixie got her own small bit of justice out of it by plastering the girlfriend's selfies all over Facebook, publicly ID'ing her partner as a thief.
  • In Ep. 82, Trixie describes returning from a tour to find her roommate's refrigerator dead. It being summer in Los Angeles (and the fridge having a lot of meat in it), this led to a wall of maggots falling out of it. This horrifying mental image is not at all helped by the editors then filling the background with animated maggots.
  • Speaking of Trixie and gross stuff, in "Heat," she discusses having to put on a summer of shows at Provincetown's Post Office Theater, a very small venue where the only cooling system was a window unit in the back. Her corset got so sweaty, it developed black mold.
Katya: We can't go from fun to fungus!
