Thrice’s song can be quite disturbing, and it’s no surprise why.

The Illusion of Safety:

  • “Kill Me Quickly” is quite horrifying, a man begs for his girlfriend to kill him while he kills her too.
  • “A Subtle Dagger” shows how society will follow a path that will blatantly end in ruin.
  • “See You in the Shallows”. The man in this song seems really optimistic about committing suicide.
  • “Deadbolt”. The lyrics say it all.
    The sirens feed my nightmares
I just close my eyes and I’m already there
    It’s already too late
I know it’s nothing but lies
  • The man singing “In Years To Come” is so eager to show he loves his significant other that he would die for her. It’s both horrifying and heartwarming.

  • “The Red Death” is probably one of the few Thrice sings that has a reputation for being outright terrifying. It’s sung from the point of view of an …entity preparing to kill his victims.

  • “Trust” is quite ominous and surprisingly calm for a Thrice song, but it is pretty uncanny too, with the line “Mix the chemicals right, dear” repeated over and over again. Other than that it is quite heartwarming.
  • To Awake and Avenge the Dead features a person summoning their dead friend’s ghost.

The Artist in the Ambulance:

  • “Under a Killing Moon” is quite creepy, with Dustin Kendrue’s voice screaming “Burn!” topping it all off.

  • The descriptions in “Silhouette” are too graphic…

  • The lyrics of “Blood Clots and Black Holes” are quite disturbing. Not even a minute in and the lyrics contain Eye Scream
    Here’s your new drug
Shoot it in the left eye, feel it on the right side
    !!Vheissu:
  • “Red Sky” proves that there is a trend of Thrice songs with the word red in them being horrifying

The Alchemy Index, Vols. 1 & 2: Fire & Water:

  • “Digital Sea’s” lyrics are a mixture of this and Tearjerker.

  • “Lost Continent”. Just the lyrics “We’ll soon be swallowed by sea” is enough to make this calm melody less calm.

The Alchemy Index Vols. 3 & 4: Air and Earth:

  • ”The Sky Is Falling” is also a mixture of this and tearjerker, as we can hear a man singing about how his family will die.

  • The Lion and the Wolf is a song about a lion and a wolf entering your house while you sleep and eating your flesh.

Beggars:

  • The opening lyrics to “All the World Is Mad count as this.
  • “The Great Exchange” is a song about a cruise ship in which the passengers sent their captain to die.

Major/Minor:

  • The person Kendrue sings about in Yellow Belly qualifies as this.
