Your days in the sun are over, Zebedee, you benevolent bed-spring. Now, it's time for Zeebad!
  • The film's opening nightmare scene involves Zebedee being cornered by his arch-nemesis Zeebad at night in a snow-capped landscape. Zeebad knocks Zebedee off the cliff and just manages to get his grip on the edge of Zeebad's ice fortress. Just then, Zeebad advances towards Zebedee, who is still clinging on for his life, and blasts him off, sending him falling into the abyss below, right before Zebedee wakes up from his nightmare.
    • The shot of Zeebad, who is ready to blast Zebedee into the abyss is rather terrifying.
  • In the beginning of the film, just when Dougal is about to sneak some candy from the candy cart, he accidentally makes the candy cart go out of control and starts zipping around the village, causing Basil, Coral and Florence to run to the roundabout for safety. Afterwards, the cart goes up a sidewalk sign like a ramp where Dougal falls out and lets the cart crash on top of the roundabout. Very shortly after crashing, the cart explodes, heavily damaging the top of the roundabout so much that it spins backwards and out of control with the children still on it, who are soon joined by Mr. Rusty who attempts to shut it down, only to find that the gears are beginning to freeze in icicles. The answer to that is Zeebad, who emerges from the hole on top of the roundabout and freezes the roundabout all over, trapping the children and Mr. Rusty.
    • The horrific sight of the roundabout roof after the sugar cart exploded is also haunting. The area on the canopy is left charred and burned with a hole where the cart crashed and a chunk of the cresting was reduced into charred splinters.
    • The ominous build-up before the sudden explosion from the cart. Shortly after the cart crashes into the roof of the roundabout, it cuts away to the shot of Brian commenting about how Dougal has got to make a big entrance. Then, we hear what seems to be a muffled thunderous rumble coming from the cart and the roundabout and Brian looks up where he is now horrified of what would happen next. We then see the sugar cart stuttering and shaking, before it suddenly cuts to a distant shot where the cart suddenly explodes. The loud explosion can make viewers, especially younger ones, jump in their seats and make them terrified.
  • To get the first diamond from the lava-invested mountain, the group must travel over the narrow and crooked bridge to get to it. However, Train goes over a chunk that soon falls, startling him and nearly falls off, with Dougal and Ermintrude just hanging on for dear life in the carriage. Fortunately, Dylan fiddles with the controls and allows Train to pull himself back up. Just as things are getting okay, the bridge starts to crack, prompting Train to dash across it to the other side.
  • After Dougal's gobstopper accidentally trips one of the alarm beams in the temple, the gang are completely horrified when several ferocious and menacing skeletons with glowing eyes burst in from the ground and corner them.
    • Shortly after Dylan and Ermintrude take out the skeletons with martial arts, all the pieces of the skeletons merge together to become one gigantic skeleton. Its voice is also unnerving. It even chases after Dougal and the gang with a bone in his hand.
    • That same skeleton reappears again when the gang is on the way back to the roundabout. While Train is travelling through the mines and Dylan tries to reassure Dougal that the crazy trip will be right behind the gang, the skeleton suddenly shows up behind Train's carriage and returns to attack the gang. Fortunately, the skeleton was knocked off by a low-hanging plank.
