The reveal of the mutated man. Quite unexpected for a film called 'Tarantula'.
The creature itself. It fits perfectly with the darkness, appearing as some kind of shadow beast. And make what you will of its cricket-like noises, but don't you think they sound downright HATEFUL?
The trailer is also a bit much. Makes good use of ominous narration, terrifying music, and that one shot of the giant Tarantula crawling across a hill. And that trilling just keeps getting louder...
Perhaps the film's major source of Nightmare Fuel (and one likely to traumatize younger viewers) is the scene where the tarantula peeks through Steve's bedroom window…and brings the house down…literally. In addition we are treated to the full effects of Professor Deemer's mutation in which one eye has sunk lower than the other.
