- Everything to do with Barbatos Goetia is Nightmare Fuel. He was considered so cruel while he was alive he was written out of history, and despite this he gets brought back to life. When he does, he mows through the ranks of past heroes with both glee and ease, and won't hesitate to murder children to succeed in his (very petty) goal. Said goal? To be praised as the hero he believes he is, which he gets recognized as in a Bad Future. That's right, one of the nastiest villains in the Tales Series succeeds in his goal, and is implied to have become King of one of the last cities left remaining. It was temporary, but still. And in the end, he kills himself rather than accepting that the heroes beat him.
- When he was four, Kyle watched his Big Brother Mentor Loni take a hit for him, his father get butchered in cold blood, and his mother get crippled. He only remembered this when he was put in a Lotus-Eater Machine.
- Judas's Illusion World. While the others are treated to perfect worlds where the traumatic events in their pasts never happened, Judas, or Leon Magnus, is forced to live through his past betrayal and death over and over again while Elraine tries to break him via Hannibal Lecture and offers a Deal with the Devil if he accepts Fortuna's will. When he delivers a Shut Up, Hannibal!, she vows his nightmare will never end. The heroes save him, but that would have been a nasty way to spend eternity.
- In Nanaly's Bad Future, she comes from Hope Town, a place which refused to accept being brainwashed and lives in the desert, away from Elraine's influence. In order to wipe that little patch of resistance out, Elraine further changes the past and slaughters thousands of people and turns the Earth into an uninhabitable wasteland by reversing the winners of the War Between Heaven and Earth. Barring the horror of this first slaughter, there would have been millions of people Retconned out of existence within the past thousand years, all for the sake of creating a few brainwashed isolated cities worshiping Fortuna. Fun.
