A lot of dark moments happen in Gaiden, below you can see a good portion of them listed:
- Any of the monsters from Erdrea who are unfortunate enough to cross paths with the Crimson Fang are constantly tortured (Psychologically too!) and enslaved.
- Emperor Bowser has a power called Oblivion Fire, which is a black fire that will continue to burn anything until it has been incinerated. It can't even be extinguished, as shown off by him using it on a Toad.
- The fate that befalls Esdeath's village is brutal at the hands of the Creatures of Grimm which has traumatized Esdeath.
- Seryu's introduction says it all. Like in the anime she is very dangerous, she also has a very deadly Semblance that allows her to create any weapon.
- She also proceeds to murder everyone in the mental hospital she was in without mercy.
- Seryu ambushes her former boss Esdeath after her fight with Sephiroth and proceeds to brutally injure her even further.
- Seryu took special delight in mocking Esdeath before stealing her clothes and leaving her for dead after inflicting even more gunshot wounds. If not for the timely arrival of some Koopas and Toads, Esdeath would have met her end at the hands of her former subordinate.
- Salem and her forces recruiting Aria from the first episode of the anime and her partner Donovan.
- Aria being a total Yandere for Whitley.
- The Phazon having fully spread around the Mushroom Kingdom, Remnant, and Smash Mansion, and soon worlds by chapter 89. This has gotten to the point, the residents of these worlds had to be evacuated into space as a result. What's worse is that the end of the same chapter has Dimentio claiming he knows how to turn this universe's Ruby into Chaos Ruby!
- Dark Samus reveals she created a Grimm/Metroid Hybrid called the Grimm Prime which helps her corrupt the Doom Slayer, giving the evil Space Pirate a powerful ally to unleash on the heroes.
- The brutal treatment and abuse the one-eyed Shiny Charizard had to deal with in its life is terrifying. Plus the fact it brutally murders any humans it comes into contact with by burning them. It is truly terrifying to see a Pokémon go this far into brutality thanks to the abuse it suffered.
- All of Chapter 94 due to how many planets Dark Samus and Ridley have corrupted such as Gensokyo and what's worse is that Ridley is planning on pulling a Starscream on Dark Samus and replacing her with Mother Brain!
- Dimentio turning Mario into Mr. M in Chapter 99 (though, luckily, it's indicated that Dimentio's going to get a well-deserved ass-kicking)
- Chapter 103 shows the fate of the Mistral Huntsman that Coco mentioned during chapter 26 of Galaxy 2. It ends in a brutal bloodbath due to how effective the Dinosaur Grimm are. This serves as a reminder that while normally canon fodder, the Grimm can truly be terrifying and effective when they need to. What makes it even darker is that the Hunstman had no idea that Leo betrayed them and likely they were not the first to be led into a Grimm death trap.
- In Chapter 116, we see the mysterious The Nameless Grimm, a psychotic Grimm Rabbit that has managed to survive this long by forcing anyone who sees it to kill each other before eating their remains. Seryu and Umber were lucky to escape it, and the Grimm is still alive and out there, ready to cause trouble to anyone who sees it again.
- Chapter 122 finally sees Aria and Whitley reunite and both have changed...Aria for the worse. Once she finds out that not only did Whitley move on from her, but he is also now dating a Faunus, she turns into a complete Yandere and attacks just about every girl who is even close to Whitley, dating or otherwise, all the while still declaring that he is her "beloved".
- Chapter 126 finally sees Seryu's plan play out-she blasts her way into the Mushroom City prison, sparking a prison riot in the process, and murders Jacques, but not before suffering a full mental breakdown in the process, all while the heroes can only watch via the news.
- In Chapter 127, after being ridiculed and mocked for her failures in the past by Dimentio and learning about how strong Ruby has become, Dark Ruby/Grimm basically snaps HARD. Her full Grimm Eyes power has become fully manifested transforming her into a monstrous Grimm state (almost like the dreaded Hound Grimm in canon), she became powerful to defeat and terrify even Dimentio and Mercury who was watching it. She also becomes strong enough to summon Grimm versions of previous enemies seen throughout the series. Even Ruby unknowingly sensed Dark Ruby/Grimm Ruby's increase in power and has no idea what is coming. This ultimately shows while this clone was a joke for a long while since Galaxy 1, she is becoming a serious threat again like in her first appearance back in RWBY: Uprising.
- In Chapter 136, we see who fought Yang as mentioned back in SPBRR: Dread. Turns out it was none other than Akuma. He proves to be a very difficult and frightening foe for Yang, not even her Shin form could defeat him. He would have killed her if not for Ryu's timely rescue. Also in the same chapter, Kazuya takes over a company in Moonview City, suggesting he has plans which could spell trouble in the future.
- In Chapter 141, Bereto "finishes off" Getz in a matter that's never shown directly but wasn't pretty, judging by Getz's yell as he dies. It's later stated that Bereto always spared his opponents as a mercenary, so him nonchalantly finishing off Getz here is a big Characterization Marches On moment.
- In Chapter 145, we discover how Oran's birth parents died and it's not pretty. They all were working in a camp under the SDC, but his father, Oliver, stood up to one of Jaques' enforcers. In revenge, the enforcers decide to not only blow up the mine but also awaken a King Taijitu in order to make sure that it looked like an accident. The icing on the cake? Donovan was revealed to be imprisoned in the camp and he killed several other Faunus as well. By the time Kala arrives, it's clear Oran was the Sole Survivor.
- Grimm Ruby and Grimm Peach outright torturing Luigi and Chiaki in Chapter 151.
- Chapter 152 reveals that Calasmos has taken control of several monsters from the Monster Hunter and has used them to wipe out a majority of the Grimm population residing in Emerald Forest. Worse of all, he has sent them to attack Beacon Academy Rampage-style, right before Grimm Ruby begins her full invasion. Once again, Calasmos has remained a constant threat when he wants to be, plus with the active Grimm, malicious chaos will continue to ensue.
- Chapter 157, what started as a simple mission for CFVY, taking care of a Great Jagras, turns into a nightmare when another monster shows up. Who turns up? The DREADED Savage Deviljho. This results in a brutal Curb-Stomp Battle where it proceeds to slowly overwhelm them. What's worse, it even resists Calasmos's influence much to CFVY and Palutena's horror. Luckily, Doom Slayer rescued them. This adds a huge sense of dread as there could be more like the Savage Deviljho roaming around Remnant....and the fact there haven't been sightings of these near Vale foreshadows more future danger in the future.
- Chapter 170 reveals the origin of Tatsumi's Semblance, a rare and dangerous Star Armor based on the rogue Celestial Sprit Tyrant, who was powerful enough to defeat Loke and even the Celestial King himself. What's worse is that the Tyrant's soul is still alive and can drive anyone who wears the armor insane, before taking over and erasing both their mind and soul. Not even Lucy could control it, leaving her mind shattered for several weeks.
- Chapter 180 ends with the Lake Trio telling Arceus that someone made a time machine and traveled back in time to the land of Hisui to destroy the bonds between humans and Pokémon! Even worse? It's revealed that that someone was Ghetsis.
- Chapter 193 reveals just how many beings Fecto has managed to bring into the New World, which comes to include Ridley, setting the heroes up to fight him next.
- Chapter 203 reveals exactly what Dimentio wanted from Maleficent-his own Keyblade and once he gets it, he makes it clear he's coming for Chiaki. Luckily, Chapter 7 of Skyward Sword has the hapless jester be flung into a black hole by Magolor before Dimentio can attack Chiaki.
- Chapter 207 has the original program of R3-B7 retuned after SAPR unlocked her missing memories. However, this split personality is now seeks revenge against Eggman. What's worse is R3-B7 could take over SAPR at anytime and potentially cause problems for the heroes.
- Also, SAPR seeing her old memories is terrifying as she has not control of what she sees as it happened in the past.
- Chapter 214 shows that, while the heroes may have meant well by bringing the new Princesses of Heart into their world, Maleficent implies they may have just brought them all straight to her.
- Chapter 216 demonstrates just how dangerous Magog (who is Damian's counterpart) is, easily defeating Paper Ruby, destroying her weapon and capturing five of her Pokémon to turn into Brainwashed and Crazy minions.
- Chapter 219 introduces the Immortal Acid Dragon, Acidtail. This dragon not only has powerful acid abilities, but he cannot die thanks to his immortality. Not only does Dry Bowser have a new powerful minion, he is also looking for the lab of a scientist named V who may have more dangerous research he can use.
- We get to see the Lost Levels for the first time and they are much more dangerous than the canon levels.
- Chapter 224 sees Felix use the Red Chaos Emerald to grant himself electricity powers and considering that he's completely insane, him with new powers doesn't bode well for the heroes.
- Chapter 257 ends with Mario encountering Viola and when she talks about how she's going to make Myra and Jade suffer, Mario uses a Boo Mushroom to turn into Boo Mario and flee and then after dismissing it, he pulls out a P-Wing, decides that he's conquered the Lost Levels and flees declaring that he's got to warn Myra and Jade.
- Chapter 259 has Twilight Chiaki officially crossing it. While a very unbalanced person already by killing villains of any kind, by this point she has officially become a multiversal threat. Willing not just to kill other alternative versions of herself (hundreds by this point), but wiped out her version of Remnant without remorse.
