Nightmare Fuel / Strangers From Hell

  • THE WHOLE FREAKING DRAMA. Just imagine being caught up in the same situation as Jong-woo, with all those creepy neighbours... and ending up insane yourself. Shivers. Not to mention the eerie feel of the series throughout the episodes.
  • Within minutes of arriving at Eden Studio, Jong-woo learns his room's previous occupant committed suicide. (Or so Ms. Eom says...) Then he has a series of unsettling encounters with his bizarre new neighbours. Then Moon-jo shows up.
  • Jong-woo awakes to Moon-jo whispering "Honey, wake up." He looks up and sees there's no one there.
  • Hee-joong discovers a mutilated corpse. He freaks out, unaware that the door behind him is opening. Then he turns around and gets knocked out.
    • Later Hee-joong makes an attempt to escape. He doesn't notice Gi-hyeok is right behind him so he gets knocked out again before he can leave.
  • Hee-joong's (apparent) death. Moon-jo tears out all his teeth without anaesthetic. Then Ms. Eom cuts up part of a corpse and puts it in the fridge while Moon-jo turns Hee-joong's teeth into rings.
    • Later it's revealed Hee-joong is still alive and a prisoner in Eden, still being tortured by the residents.
  • Moon-jo invites Jong-woo to have a meal with him. He brings out human meat and gives it to Jong-woo. Jong-woo tries it and says it tastes weird. Moon-jo continues eating, and when the lightbulb flickers it briefly shows him staring right at Jong-woo with a Slasher Smile.
  • Moon-jo spies on Jong-woo through a hole in the wall. He watches him when he's sleeping, waking up, writing... And he stalks him when he leaves Eden, to the point that when Jong-woo gets into an argument with his co-worker Moon-jo immediately texts him to ask if he wants to kill the co-worker.
  • After a fight Jong-woo wakes up in a dentist's chair with his mouth held open and Moon-jo doing something with dental instruments. It turns out that Moon-jo is only stitching up an injury in Jong-woo's mouth, but it's still incredibly creepy. Especially Moon-jo's nonchalance about the possibility of cutting Jong-woo's tongue.
  • Moon-jo follows Jae-ho back to his office and beats him to death. Seok-yoon sees the other residents bringing him in and ducks out of sight. For a minute he thinks he's avoided being caught. Then Moon-jo appears behind him and knocks him out.
    • Moon-jo forces Seok-yoon to talk to Jong-woo and pretend everything's alright. Jong-woo tells Seok-yoon to get out of Eden then leaves, ignoring Seok-yoon's pleas for him to stay. As soon as he's gone Moon-jo attacks Seok-yoon again.
  • Seok-yoon's prolonged death is utterly horrific. First Moon-jo tears out his teeth, then he leaves him with Deuk-jong, then Deuk-jong unties him and pretends to give him a chance to escape, then Deuk-jong and Ms. Eom trick Seok-yoon into a trap when he attempts to get out.
  • Moon-jo kills the reporter so brutally that Jung-hwa vomits when she sees the body.
  • The deaths of Ms. Eom and Deuk-jong, though richly deserved, are pretty horrifying. Moon-jo kills Ms. Eom with a hammer (or possibly an axe) to the head. Deuk-jong finds her body and decides to avenge her. So he stabs Moon-jo, who acts like he's been badly wounded... then pulls out the knife and cuts Deuk-jong's throat. Then he stabs Deuk-jong repeatedly.
  • Shortly before his death Moon-jo calls Jong-woo his greatest masterpiece and says they'll be together forever. Considering what happens later, he's right.
  • The ending. Gainax Ending, Downer Ending and Mind Screw are in full force, with incredibly creepy results.
    • Jung-hwa sees Moon-jo in an elevator, staring right at her. For added creepiness it's left ambiguous if Jung-hwa's imagining him or if he's really there. And if he is really there, then he's either a ghost... or he didn't die after all...
    • When Jung-hwa leaves the hospital she's filmed from a distance in a way that suggests someone is watching her.
    • Jong-woo is still wearing the bracelet Moon-jo gave him, decorated with the teeth of Moon-jo's victims.
    • There's a chance Jong-woo killed Nam-bok, Ms. Eom and Deuk-jong because Moon-jo told him to. All of them richly deserved it, but the scenes of Jong-woo attacking them — and in one case repeating the lines Moon-jo said earlier — are pure Nightmare Fuel. And then there's Ji-eun overhearing Jong-woo talking to himself, while the same scene from Jong-woo's P.O.V. shows him talking to Moon-jo...
    • Jong-woo writes "die" again and again while smiling creepily. Then his face briefly turns into Moon-joo's.
    • Moon-jo appears among the crowd gathered outside Eden, watching (and smiling) as Jong-woo is put in the ambulance.
    • The last line in the series is Moon-jo whispering, "Honey."
