  • Bulbasaur and Tepig's brief No-Holds-Barred Beatdown in the 2011 pilot is pretty jarring, to say the least. Although what he did was self-defense, it feels uncanny to see the normally helpless Bulbasaur genuinely expressing real hatred towards another person, one of his friends mind you. Granted, this was the first installment of the series, but still...
    • Also, the fight ends with Bulbasaur accidentally pushing Tepig in front of an oncoming car.
    • Bulbasaur also calls Cyndaquil a dumbass later on in the pilot. Knowing their interactions in the canon episodes, that would later be Harsher in Hindsight.
  • Ditto Disaster:
    • The Ditto disguising as a critically-injured Cyndaquil. Marked with graphically-drawn entrails, covered in blood and more, this one's bound to make you grossed out. And it's graphic as hell, even for Word of God's standards. It might just be one of the most disturbing scenes in the entire series.
    • "DO AS YOUR GOD COMMANDS." It's Played for Laughs, but it can come off as creepy to some, especially Typhlosion's face!
    • The Pokémon getting trapped by the giant Ditto. If that doesn't freak you out, then maybe Tepig muffledly calling out for Bulbasaur's name will.
  • Fennekin hallucinating in the hospital when she's about to visit Chespin in Typomaniac. Complete with Nightmare Face and Hell Is That Noise.
  • The Lavender Town episode. Where do we start...
"I'd send your kids home if i were you..."
    • Bulbasaur's kidnapping.
    • The abandoned amusement park. Everything there visually looks foggy, misty, and colorless... Complete with a hung corpse of an Ampharos.
    • Rollercoaster Fun. It's worse than it sounds.
    • The fact that Nidorina's parents forced her to eat their guts when they were gutted out.
    • The chase scene at the end, with Ominous Latin Chanting, the road breaking, Hypno and Nidoking falling into a portal to hell, and Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, and Tepig nearly dying.
    • Nidoking after his truck explodes.
  • The episode Rare Candy is notably more Darker and Edgier than any other Starters episode, and is probably the most disturbing episode to date. It's a good thing the episode afterwards (Wild Oranberries) is relatively Kinder and Cleaner.
    • First, we find out that if a Pokémon overdoses on the titular drug, there's a chance that their element will violently explode out of their body. Gorn galore.
    • "Show us your secret, or Chespin's head is GOING OVER THE FUCKING WALLS!!!"
    • Mudkip's Disney Death, full stop. All the broken Chespin can do is just lay there in Stunned Silence as he saw his best friend get killed in front of him.
  • Turtwig's first Disney Death in Wild Oranberries. Doubles as Tear Jerker due to Tepig and Bulbasaur briefly crying and panicking because of it.
