    The Woods Are Dark
  • The opening chapter starts off with Neala and Sherri being abducted by some sinister locals.
  • Cordelia and her boyfriend Ben are running through the woods, only for Ben to be killed by their persuer. Cordelia hides, but is discovered by a group of feral teens who strip her naked and gang-rape her.
    • Then she finds Ben's head on a pike and nearly has a breakdown.
  • The creature who shows up at the last minute. There's no explanation as to what it is or if the characters can even outrun it.

    Out Are the Lights
  • The Gorn movies. Those victims weren't acting

    Night Show

    All Hallow's Eve

    Beware
  • Lacey is investigating some unusual activity in a supermarket late at night, only to be raped at knifepoint. And her attacker is invisible.
  • Lacey is then kidnapped by a cult who strip her naked, tie her to the front of a truck and lash her for kicks.

    Tread Softly/Dark Mountain
  • After killing a psycho rapist, his witch doctor mother swears revenge and curses the group of campers responsible. They then suffer several near-fatal misfortunes.
  • The campers are then terrorised by an army of reanimated corpses.

    Flesh
  • The parasite slips into its host quickly and effortlessly, then mind-rapes them into committing horrific acts. Once you see it, it's more or less too late.
  • Roland is pretty sinister even before getting possessed
  • Alison is cornered by the parasite and is nearly possessed, but is saved at the last minute by Jake.

    Midnight's Lair
  • The Mordock family are inherently sadistic, raping and mutilating women and encouraging their sons to do the same.
  • The origin of the cave people is utterly horrifying, as are the effigies that get found when people break into their side of the cave. The fact they’re all capable of talking and thinking like normal people only makes the situation worse.

    Resurrection Dreams
  • Melvin's attempts at reviving the dead with variable results are horrifying. The ones that don't die are physically abused, while the ones that don't come back as sex-starved slaves who sustain gruesome injuries. What's more, they're all fully capable of blending into normal society. Anyone could be a zombie rapist.
  • Vicki comes home to find her friend Ace has been scalped.

    Funland
  • A couple go down to the beach at midnight for some outdoor lovemaking. They're then surrounded by a horde of homeless psychos who attack and most likely kill them.
  • The entire funhouse is a descent into nightmare territory. A girl is pulled into a room that can only be opened from within and her companions don't see her again She survives, but it's implied she was raped

    The Stake
  • Mr. Kramer is a well-liked teacher that Lane not-so-secretly lusts over. In his private life, he likes raping his female students and killing both them and their parents if they threaten to tell, or even if he loses interest.

    One Rainy Night
  • The people who get caught out in the black rain become vicious lunatics who attack anyone and everyone on sight. This is demonstrated in the books prologue, where a police officer kills a civilian he was just talking to and starts sucking the blood out of the gaping bullet wound in the guys head.
  • One of the groups of protagonists is driving around in the rain trying to get to another character, only to be met with a group of people that include a man wielding an axe and a young girl swinging around a severed head. The man with the axe manages to end up getting himself impaled on the blunt end of the axe after he swings it into the hood of the car, turning him into a morbid hood ornament.
  • The entire assault on the restaurant, where people are raped, eaten, and generally mutilated after a bunch of the infect people break in.
  • Buddy Gilbert is a special case because the majority of his evil comes before he gets infected. Namely, he lynched a black kid for stealing his girlfriend. which is the reason the rain is happening in the first place. He continually one ups himself in depravity through the novel, taking Maureen hostage after he accidentally cures her solely so he can rape and abuse her. A woman who he knows nothing about aside from her trying to kill him, mind you. He gets worse later on.

    Island
  • The protagonist, Rupert, at one point goes into the jungle to take a dump. He finishes up, but stumbles into a tree while putting his shorts back on, prompting him to look up and find a half naked corpse hanging above him.
  • The main groups raft seems to drift out to sea, so Mr. Collins (established as the most able bodied man still alive) swims out to go get it. The rest of the group can only watch on the shoreline as a figure rises out of the boat and buries an axe in his head as soon as he tries to climb aboard.
  • The Big Bad Wesley trapped everyone on the island solely so he could kill all of the men and keep the women locked in cages as sex slaves
  • The ending, where Rupert brutally kills Wesley and essentially takes his place as “king of the island.”

    Darkness, Tell Us

    Blood Games
  • The Belmore girls break into the house of a particularly unpleasant man. They come across a withered figure that couldn't possibly be alive...then it speaks.

    Alarums

    Endless Night
  • Jody and Andy are chased by a gang of serial killers who wear human skin. By the time they realise this, several people that they know are already dead.
  • Simon catches Jody in her room, strips her naked, and threatens to rape her in front of Andy. Andy is too scared and indecisive to react fast enough, so Simon molests Jody and, knowing that Andy is attracted to Jody, gleefully tries to bait Andy into joining him. When it doesn't work and Andy finally shoots at him, Simon simply stabs the boy to death.
  • The very concept of the Killer Krulls: a group of men who, since their teens, have been riding around the western United States raping and killing at random. They have murdered at least several dozen people, mostly in home invasions where they wipe out entire families. They are so meticulous about leaving no evidence - cleaning and burning the crime scene, taking the bodies with them, wearing other people's skin and hair, and never leaving any witnesses - that until Jody and Andy escape no one knows that they even exist.

    In the Dark
  • The very setup: A random young woman is being stalked by a sadist who knows how to play her. If she lets her boyfriend get involved, one or the other will suffer for it.
  • The house on Mayr Heights is a den of rape, torture and auto-cannibalism. It's that horrible women will eat themselves.
  • Jane puts herself in at least three situations that could easily lead to rape and even murder.

    Quake
  • Stanley, this books resident Ax-Crazy rapist, kills his own mother within the first ten pages.
  • An old woman gets her face eaten by her cat after becoming trapped under rubble.
  • Heather, a supporting character, is unnerving largely because Too Much Information crops up whenever she talks about her deranged home life.

    Bite
  • Sam has to witness his love interest Cat being forced to be the love-slave to a possible vampire. What's more, she admits that she enjoys it.
  • The drifter who call himself Snow White just comes out of nowhere and for the most part is quite friendly, but only in a "you-won't-like-me-when-I'm-angry" kind of way.

    Body Rides
  • The bracelet's ability to let you ride the body of another person and read their minds quickly turns into Nightmare Fuel as Neal tests its magic on a murder victim, a deviant and a young woman with a sordid sexual history.
  • The villain known as Rasputin real name Leslie Glitt isn't just evil, he's a juggernaut. Bullets only slow him down and when he wants to kill you, he won't be gentle or clean.
  • Neal, the protagonist of the story, is brutally gunned down in a drive-by, with 75 pages left.

    After Midnight
  • One night, serial killer Steve breaks into Alice's place, dips into her pool and ejaculates in front of her. The next day, he hold her hostage and threatens to rape her with just his presence.

    The Wilds

    Cuts

    Among the Missing

    Come Out Tonight
  • Sherry is dragged around town by her eventual rapist before being abused, told that her younger sister is next and dumped at the bottom of a ravine.

    Once Upon A Halloween

    The Traveling Vampire Show
  • Dwight, Slim and Rusty are threatened by a mad dog. Said mad dog is then met with a horrific fate that the three friends are sure will happen to them next.
  • Dwight's memories of Jank's Field. That place is a haven for horror.
  • Slim goes missing for most of the day. Someone breaks into her house and defiles her Dracula book. Dwight then finds a rose in his room. Turns out that Slim was just out and their break-ins were by Rusty's creepy sister.
  • The vampire Valeria feeds on three victims in front of her audience. Rusty volunteers as well, but knocks her back, strips her naked and tries to rape her. Then Valeria feeds on him as well
  • Dwight's sister-in-law Lee is attacked by Valeria and stripped naked before Dwight steps up to her rescue. Valeria then overwhelms him. The show's manager Stryker offers to let Dwight go if Lee agrees to join his new attraction. Lee reluctantly agrees and Stryker gets his jollies by putting her in a skimpy costume. What's more, Lee seems to enjoy it as she gets into character at the drop of a hat.
  • Valeria's not a real vampire, but bait to lure men in, weaken them by drawing out their blood and having the stagehands cart them off to be fed to some obese cannibal and he's feeding on Rusty!

    Night in the Lonesome October
  • Ed and Eileen's fun sexual adventure in the darkness of tunnel under the bridge goes horribly wrong when they realise what lurks there.
  • Ed's visit into the "house of clowns".
  • The whole book from second night onward has an omnious background threat of psycho killer/rapist Randy on the loose, prawling the streets in search of Ed or his girlfriend.

    No Sanctuary
  • Rick's memory of finding his step-mother's violated corpse.
  • Rick and his girlfriend Bert are captured by a crazed hermit who threatens to feed them to a pack of cougars. Bert breaks free and fights the hermit, who tries to rape her.
  • Gillian makes a big mistake in breaking into the house of a sadist.

     Amara/To Wake the Dead
  • Amara is near-unkillable, will not hesitate to rip you apart, can break locks with her bare hands and is after a baby. Any baby.
  • Ed and Virginia are held in a specially-made prison and kept as sex-slaves. If they even cum too early, they'll be punished. Ed dies in there and Virginia escapes, only to come back and start a relationship with her captor.
  • Grace, her boyfriend Cody and little sister Pix leave their abusive step-father and venture off to Hollywood. While sleeping in their car, they're woken up by several sinister locals. One of them gets particularly aggressive and threatens to kill them unless Pix gives him a blowjob. Grace takes the bullet.

     The Lake
  • When she was 18, Leigh spent the summer at her aunt and uncle's by the lake. The first perso n she meets is a creepy hillbilly who won't take his hand out of his pants while staring at her.
  • A young girl is introduced midway into the plot, has her full character explained and is then kidnapped and killed. All so that the Big Bad's M.O. could be explained.
  • The sub-plot involving the crazed old ladies. It just comes out of nowhere and is never referenced again, so that means they're still out there.
  • The Candyman Mace kidnaps Leigh's daughter Deana and holds her captive. She has no way of knowing where she's being held and it's obvious that her captor wants to rape and murder her.

     The Glory Bus/Into the Fire
  • The story opens up with Pamela already captured by her psycho stalker who by now has driven them both into the middle of the desert.
  • Norman's metamorphosis from wimp to psychopath.
