Does she deserve this treatment? She does.
Do we get a kick out of the sight? We sure do.
Does that make it any less disturbing, though? Not really.

A story about someone suffering brutality and seeking to enact his equally brutal revenge on his tormentors? Safe to say that there will be some especially disturbing content. The Jioral Kingdom is not a happy place in general.

General

  • Just how everyone is a cruel rapist or mass murderer. The Kingdom of Jioral is infested with all sorts of lowly scum only hiding under a veneer of good publicity — there are Serial Rapists, sex maniacs, mass murderers, slave owners, conquerors masquerading as "adventurers" and "heroes", and a war-mongering tyrant of a king who's seemingly a carbon copy of the historical Genghis Khan. And then there's our "Healer Hero" Keyaru who's literally no different from the monstrosities he's fighting against. He drugs, rapes and enslaves multiple enemy core personnel, keeps an entire Battle Harem made out of slaves he either brought or tortured, raped and brainwashed into submission, kills some more, and starts wars against entire kingdoms and demonic realms just to get back against Flare, Blade and Bullett. There's a fine line between something like Guts or Ukei Kaito and this, whereas awful as these protagonists are in their revenge plans, don't go anywhere as unhinged as whatever they're fighting against. All in all, the entire story is just an Evil Hero with a Freudian Excuse fighting a bunch of flat-out assholes committing similar crimes as he does.
  • Keyaru's ordeal as the Healer Hero in his past life. Drugged and raped by his companions for years on end. Not to mention the traumatic aftereffects every time he's forced to Heal. Is it any wonder he's so broken?
  • Pretty much every time Keyaru breaks out a Psychotic Smirk, especially when he relishes in torturing and/or manipulating others. It's a frequent reminder that our "hero" isn't much better than the monsters he's fighting.

Other examples

  • What Blade does with her toys. As seen in the manga, she uses a giant spiked strap-on to rape women. She is so aggressive that one girl is left physically and mentally broken from the ordeal.
  • Blade is an incredibly disturbing Serial Rapist. She chats up "Keara" and sneaks an aphrodisiac in her drink, and when Keara tries to politely decline, Blade forces her to drink it anyway. Then as Blade was on her way bringing Keara to her torture cell, an old man runs into her to avenge his daughter. Apparently, she has a record for Date Rape and has broken and/or killed more than a few this way.
  • The brief flashback of the "Heroes"' encounter with Norn in the past timeline. Norn is there to help, and procured them an entire city as a forward base... By poisoning its water source and forcing the survivors to surrender. She then had them interrogated, got the locations of the other cities, and then had them burned alive to insure nobody would go and raise the alarm. Then, knowing that sooner or later the Demons were bound to find out one of their cities had fallen to the humans and counterattack with overwhelming force, she decides the best way to "distract" them is to have Flare strike their other cities with the spell equivalent of a nuke, so they'll be too busy with that to try and find out what happened to the first city that went silent. And finally she tops it off by casually revealing to Keyaru that she knows he recovered his senses and is about to rape him, making him pee in fear.
  • They all deserved it, but the way Keyaru tortures and enslaves his revenge targets are all terrifying in their own regard. It drives to the point that our Villain Protagonist is literally no better and sometimes worse than the people he's targeting.
    • Keyaru sadistically breaking Flare's fingers one by one (see the page image for the results) only to heal her so he could do it again. Not to mention the nauseating crunches when he goes through it. The rape scene is traumatic enough as is, but hearing Flare's anguished screams in the anime makes it even worse.
      • Oh, and the Finger-chipping is toned down in the Anime and the Manga. In the manga, he had done it about ten times before she gave in. In the novel? About fifty.
    • While he fully deserved it for what he had done to Anna, Renard's Karmic Death is chilling. Since he loved violating women, Keyaru transforms him into one and drugs his men which leads to him getting gangraped to death. Keyaru then nonchalantly sets the building on fire with them not being the wiser.
    • Blade is absolutely awful and probably even worse than Flare, but damn. Keyaru paralyzes her legs and she is forced to satiate the lusts of large drug-addled men or else she gets Eaten Alive. To make matters worse for her, Keyaru takes on Princess Flare's appearance making Blade lose her will to live. And to add onto it, those men were the same ones that were harassing "Keara" earlier that were then drugged to insanity. Keyaru really did warn them.
    • The aftermath Keyaru arranged for Norn forgoes all the physical brutality with incredible sums of psychological torture. He drugged the former Princess Flare with huge amounts of aphrodisiacs, gleefully brags about having been brainwashed her into his loyal slave, and orders her to constantly sexually assault Norn for an entire morning before he rapes her and converts her to his side too. It's a brutal experience specifically personalized to prey on Norn's greatest personal fears.
      • What makes this even worse is Keyaru told her that if she doesn't get tortured and humiliated by Freia, Keyaru will instead resort to public humiliation, throwing her onto the plaza with a wooden plaque around her neck that reads "Please make me your toy" and expecting that the passerby will rape, torture and potentially kill her for her war crimes.
  • King Proum's arc is where things start to officially get serious. Unlike Flare, Blade, or Norn, his crimes are not mitigated by Crossing the Line Twice or overly comedic facial expressions and is played as dead serious as possible. Not to say that he is a decrepit, sinister old man drawn with incredible detail unlike the other characters, though the anime tones that down by a significant lot.
    • His plan to use the Philosopher's Stone to turn all of his soldiers into immortal beings and ascend into a God is terrifying. It involves raping his soldiers inside a large, fleshy chamber eerily reminiscent of something coming out from a tentacle hentai doujin, at which these soldiers will be "reborn" as his "immortal" soldiers. None of his immortal soldiers even look or act human and Combat Tentacles come out from their bodies to whip and lash out at foes. They're also completely and utterly unkillable without Guren's fire holding them down and are mindless killing machines who never say a thing as they slaughter indiscriminately. To make things worse, there are implications that the immortality also relinquishes their consciousness to an evil deity seeking to destroy the world and is using King Proum as its pawn. Look no further to the Axe Hero who moments prior to death, regained consciousness and tells Keyaru that they're being played by some force that isn't King Proum.
    • And the fun part? They kidnapped Kureha and turned her into a warrior slave under King Proum's command. Unlike the rest of his immortal army, Kureha is also brainwashed through a device tied onto her heart, something that King Proum gleefully and sadistically brags to Keyaru as his brainwashed party member violently attacks him like the three Champions prior. The sheer severity of the situation is jarring especially when throughout the entire fight, Keyaru drops his usual calm and confident attitude he has when confronting an enemy, even wondering if he has to dispose of a former comrade.
    • Proum's execution is really no better. Keyaru transforms Freia's appearance to her former Flare attire, calls forth a crowd of peasants and unleashes drugs on the gathering crowd that would brainwash them into listening everything Freya has to say. As the King begs for mercy, Keyaru rapes his former daughter right in front of him and forces the man to watch every moment of it as she impales a dagger through her chest. Then Keyaru throws his body to be carried around the drugged mob like a piece of luggage and stripped naked, as said mob starts rioting around the streets to rape and murder the king's sympathizers. Horrible as Proum is, Keyaru is even worse at it.
  • If you thought King Proum was bad, Bullett is even worse and stands out as the single most horrific character in the series. Not simply because he is a horrific, depraved abuser who goes out of his way to be as deranged as possible, but because he represents some disturbingly realistic portrayal of a sexual predator. Even before becoming a hero, he worked in a church financed by King Proum where he would rape little boys and kill them once they grow up. And it only gets worse after he meets Keyaru and gets immortalized by the Philosopher's stone, where he seeks to use the stone to give him a paradise of boys that he can enslave and rape to his content. And despite his appearance might suggest, the guy also works in an intelligence network and is surprisingly extremely intelligent, even giving Keyaru and his slave harem party an equally hard time as they did with Proum. If you remove all the fantastic elements, Bullett is a type of sexual predator who are plenty out there in Real Life.
