  • Diane's nightmare where she's outside their current home and starts hearing the voice of her mother calling in the wind. Suddenly, corpses emerge from the ground, very much alive and start pulling her into the ground. She wakes up once she's completely underground. The sole consolation is the possibility that Diane's mother was calling out to warn her about the poltergeists but this isn't explained, making it a creepy mystery.
  • The scene where Mr. Freeling vomits up a horrible creature.
  • The film introduces Reverend Kane and boy does he ever leave a permanent mark on the series.
Kane: (Suddenly Shouting) You are gonna die in there! ALL OF YOU! YOU ARE GONNA DIE!
  • The confrontation through the screen door is probably the most frightening scene in the movie. What's even more scary is that there was some Parapsychology Truth in Television in that scene. Most poltergeists can't enter a home without being let in by the owners. The fact that an easily breakable screen door is keeping a monster like Kane from haunting them is terrifying, and all Kane needs is his maniacal human form to steal the scene.
  • Kane's One-Winged Angel form, "The Great Beast" aka the vomit creature, designed by none other than H. R. Giger. Eldritch Abomination would be an apt description, looking like a creature who is not meant to exist.
  • The song that plays when Steve and Robbie go after Carol Anne and Diane on the Other Side: God is in His Holy Temple
  • The ghost briefly appearing in the bathroom mirror. It's only for 3 seconds but damn it's scary!
  • Robbie being attacked by his own braces.
  • The scene in the garage when the chainsaw was haunted by the spirits and trying to kill the Freelings by sawing the car.
