The hitmen harshly assaulting friendly bartender Ellen and her good-natured main customer Merl for information. The way that the screen cuts to a red flashing light and Ellen and Merl are never seen again add to the chilling nature of the scene. Word of God is that the scene is specifically meant to remind the audience that the hitmen are dangerous people after so many scenes of them just bantering with each other.
