Obviously Maria Labo as a horror movie will be full of Nightmare Fuel.
- One of the early horrific scenes of the movie isn't even supernatural in nature and can happen to any of us in real life. Maria was raped by drunk foreigners while she was wandering around in the streets of Dubai in daylight. Good thing that the rape itself was never shown explicitly. Just implied.
- The circumstances of how Maria became a monstrous aswang. After she became broken after she was raped, her trusted friend, Nanay Leng placed a curse on her... Why did she even did that. To think that the only person who has been kind to you in a foreign land would turn you into a monster. Then you realize that Leng doesn't even have a family like most Filipino migrant workers and may not be even human herself.
- When Filipino officials presented Maria to her husband Ermin after she was repatriated back to the Philippines. She was visibly insane sitting on a chair in an empty room.
- Maria reunites with her family promising to become a good housewife seemingly back to normal. When the children were running around playing, she becomes irritated. A normal Filipino mother would just scold children for being rowdy or even spank them, but to threatened them with a knife is uncalled for making the kids cry.
- When her husband arrived her children told him what she did. Maria then pleas for her husband's help saying she didn't want any of what happened. This suggests that Maria still had some humanity left and her aswang side is taking over.
- Like the urban legend where the film is based on, Maria later cooks her own children. When her husband returns Maria serves his husband dinner who tells Maria to call the kids to join them unaware of what happened to his kids. Maria just smiles lightly while her husband repeatedly ask her to call their children. Ermin becomes angry and asks the whereabouts of the children and Maria points the cooking pot. Ermin was shocked and went into a Heroic BSoD realizing he unknowingly ate their own children and hacks her face with a bolo knife making Maria a more suitable Nightmare Fuel material.
- Maria went to victimize a pregnant woman and ate her baby. The woman's gay companion woke up and find his companion covered in blood.
- Maria was killed in the end but at the scene at the morgue revealed that she is still alive.
