Nightmare Fuel / Luna Lovegood and the Chamber of Innocence

Go To

While not much more horrific than both Deathly Hallow films, we do get a few tidbits of nightmare fuel.

  • Luna discovering just what her dad was working on in his bunker.....when she woke up inside of it. Doesn't help is that her first reaction to waking up in it is wondering if she's in a coffin.
  • Xenophilius manages to find her and even with Mrs. Weasley claiming she hasn't seen Luna, Xenophilius tells her he hopes she's not lying because it "would be a shame if you were. A DEADLY shame."
  • The Labyrinth in Chapter 10, likely qualifies as the first TRUE bout of nightmare fuel; one example is Luna describing how her father appeared to her:
    • "The clothing is torn and bloody. The eyes are riddled with throbbing, bloodshot veins and dark circles protrude below them. The hair is scattered and silver. One of the shoulders protrudes out more than the other, giving the impression that the neck is tilted slightly, as is the head. The mouth displays a malicious Cheshire Cat grin with needle point fangs and teeth.

    • "The ears are pointed like a demon's. The legs are contorted with the knees reversed completely, but the feet are pointed straight at me. The hands are also bloody and the nails are long and sharpened into claws. Behind the figure are thousands of corpses."
  • The note Molly receives after Xenophilius takes Ginny captive, talking about if she wants her back "unaltered."
  • The narrator-described "flesh puppet" of Ginny that attacks Luna after the latter opens the locket.
