Nightmare Fuel / Infinity Crisis

Go To

  • The opening of Infinity Crisis shows the effects of Thanos' "snap" across universes;
    • Oliver can only watch helplessly as Felicity and John dissolve to dust in the Lair and then Thea calls him from a cafe where she's hysterically crying and screaming after seeing Roy and every other person around her disintegrate before her.
    • Barry has to watch Iris turn into dust in what amounts to slow motion due to his speed, thus every instant of it is longer to his eyes, only able to focus on Iris even as Caitlin screams in horror as the same fate happens to Harry.
    • Kara not only watches Winn vanish but is also nearly overwhelmed by the sounds of crashes, explosions, and, most notably, the screams of all of National City.
    • How bad is it when the "snap" hits the Power Rangers' universe? Lord Zedd is terrified after all his underlings turn to dust.
    • Lucifer barely manages to talk Chloe Decker out of eating her gun after the woman saw her young daughter disappear right in front of her.
    • Four words: Thanos. Zod. Darkseid. Together.
  • In Counterpart Conferences, the idea of two versions of Ra's al Ghul working together should be very troubling, to say nothing of the Earth-51 Joker being killed and replaced by one of his more ruthless counterparts.
  • In In Hand and Foot, Bullseye's slaughter of the Daily Bulletin staff is so horrific that Foggy Nelson openly tells Matt Murdock "for once in your life, be glad you can't see."
    • It's bad enough Shredder plans to bring Krang and the Technodrome over to Earth-19999. But then Krang double-crosses Shredder to form an alliance and allow the Triceraton Empire to invade this world.
  • In Tomorrow's Guardians, the destruction of Moclus, with the Orville crew helplessly watching the planet be torn apart before their eyes and few able to escape it.
    • Later, Ultron destroys Regor II by collapsing its star for no better reason than that he enjoyed the irony of a planet that dependent on astrology being wiped out by a collapsing star.
    • Ultron captures Gideon and creates a human body for her to try and make her his "queen."
  • In Distant Cousins, Lex Luthor intends to unleash Doomsday even after Astra makes it clear that even General Zod thought that would have been a bad idea.
    • Steel is from a world where his Superman apparently went bad, and is planning to kill Earth-38's Superman out of paranoia that he could turn evil as well.
    • Yelena slowly realizes there's a very good reason the Avengers haven't been fighting the Ten Rings, the Scriers, the Hellfire Club, the Thief and Assassin Guilds tearing up New Orleans or Dracula: they don't know any of these threats exist.
Yelena: There's a damn war going on and you don't even know the sides exist.
    • The idea of a Council of Lex Luthors is whose goal is kill every Superman in the Multiverse is a terrifying idea.
    • What's worse than Doomsday in the Phantom Zone meeting Zod, Darkseid and Thanos? The idea that somehow these three turn the monster to join them.
    • The TVA is no longer able to "prune" timelines, but they've still been trying, with at least one timeline having escaped that fate over a hundred times already.
  • In Salvation Run, Lucifer observes to the visitors from Earth-19999 that his counterpart on their world makes him look like the angel he used to be.
  • In Of Mice and Mojo the ending reveals that Mojo got the metal for his latest plan from the Skrulls.
  • Glimpses:
    • Chapter 2 showcases Earth-4262, which is basically the Nick Verse and answers the question "what happens when a bright and cheerful sitcom world is hit by the Blip?" Answer: It's not pretty.
    • In chapter five, the Big Bad lights three of his men on fire while they're unconscious and leaves them for dead because they failed to stop Lance and Walter. They were apparently saved by their co-workers, but still.
    • The various monstrous adults of the Bailey School Kids universe turn out to be Wesen, with Liza being the last remaining Grimm of her universe.
    • Chapter 7 is set in a Gender Swap Earth where the male version of Amanda Waller, Armando Waller, is confirmed to be in contact with the Cenobites through his possession of the Lament Configuration. Jimson Weed, the male Poison Ivy, is absolutely terrified.
    • Chapter 9 shows that after the events of Voltron Force, a corrupted Daniel became the "Shining One", apparently killed all of the other Voltron pilots save Vince, who Hunk had flee with the Lions. He then proceeded to create a cult and spread his influence across the galaxy for decades before Vince found new pilots worthy to take up the mantle.
    • Chapter 10 reveals that an evil Hyperion is loose in the Multiverse. Considering that he's basically Superman, that's cause for serious alarm.
    • Chapter 12 features characters from Gravity Falls while also stated to be in the same world as Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Amphibia and The Owl House. As if the implications given by Hekapoo about the coming of King Andrias and Emperor Belos isn't enough, a coded message below the notes confirms that Bill Cipher is still out there. Oh, Crap! would be selling the possibility of the three meeting up short.
    • A chapter looking at That '70s Show seems simple... until it's revealed that the Skrulls have taken control and are brainwashing the residents of that world, to the extent that they kill an alternate Doctor Strange.
  • The Timemasters manipulating the Skrulls across various realities leaves quite a lot of Paranoia Fuel out there.
    • A Darker Shade of Red indicates they were behind the events of Brightburn, establishing Brandon Breyer as a Skrull/Kryptonian hybrid and reinforcing just how terrible an evil Superman could be.
  • In a loose sense, Skysurfin' Surprise; while fans of Doctor Who are certainly not going to complain about the possibility of a multi-Doctor tale in this series, considering that such events only occur when things are truly dangerous (invasion from another dimension, a threat to the very fabric of existence, the end of the Time War), it raises concerns about just how serious the Skrull/Timemaster situation is going to become before it can be stopped...
    • As of Avenging Christmas, the First and Eleventh Doctors are also involved, with the First noting that he's tracking Hyperion, and the Eighth has to tell Peggy that the presence of his future self is no guarantee of victory.
  • Not only is something violently killing any Skrulls that enter Earth 1898, letting the Time Masters find the remains as a warning, because it has its own plans for the reality and has no interest in sharing, something else that's even worse is at the bottom of ocean...
  • In Batman Family, Captain Peggy Carter and Steve Rogers reveal their reality was destroyed by what they describe as a "wall of white". This means that not only is the Crisis on Infinite Earths here, it's already started consuming universes...
  • Once the typical "Scooby-Doo" Hoax Undead & Unburied: An Infinity Crisis Halloween Story, which was just a prank by two teens, is all settled, we learn that the siblings Govert and Lotte de Geode had actually sacrificed themselves and their parents to Mephisto, and the story ends with them having killed another family in another ritual.
  • In Celestial Navigation, not only are the Avengers and other heroes horrified to learn of the Eternals and their true nature, but Ajax also reveals that Galactus is apparently coming to Earth...
    • The troubling way Merlin sighs that he's sorry he's too late stopping Dane Whitman from picking up the Ebony Blade.
    • In a tie-in one-shot set in Hawaii, Pixie reveals that the First Line once existed on Earth-199999...until they were slaughtered by the sorceress Selene. She then used her magics to erase the world's memory of them, explaining why they were never mentioned until now. It's understandable why she hopes none of the current active heroes of Earth-199999 encounter her.
  • in His Hazelnut Heart, Vlad forced a captured Desiree to grant his wishes, but afterwards he realizes that she could inform Danny of how Vlad erased all memory of his villainous deeds. So he he uses his third with to erase Desiree from existence.
  • In Spirits and Timey-Wimey Mischief it's revealed that Doctor Sheng, the person responsible for the Brainwashings in The Legend of Korra: Ruins of the Empire, is working with the faction of Skrull radicals plaguing the Multiverse, possibly being one of them herself. Given that the Skrulls in Point Place on Earth-702 have even more effective mind control technology at their disposal, it's likely that the extremist faction as a whole has a vested interest in enslaving the minds of those they wish to conquer.
  • In Road Trip: Storybrooke, while Amora and Agatha may be somewhat "comical" villains on their own, the notion of either of them gaining full control of Storybrooke's magic (to say nothing of its latest visitors) raise some worrying possibilities.
  • Whether it's effects of the Time War or aging in other regenerations, the Rani has become far, far worse than she ever was to the point she's okay wiping out an entire species just to get one survivor to use for her experiments. That she treats sentient species are barely more intelligent than lab rats shows that, in her own way, she's as bad as the Master ever was.
  • Women Of Wonder:
    • Circe brutally sacrifices one of Areisa's brainwashed followers to empower a spell and seems to enjoy it to boot.
    • Among demons, the Earth-51 John Constantine is this, to the point the mere mention of his name has them moaning "we're all gonna die."
    • It's bad enough that Circe wants to bring Trigon to Earth-51. But then Ares joins her as starting a war between Heaven and Hell on an Earth where his counterpart doesn't exist is just the thing to entice him.
  • In Visions of Magic, the brief but chilling look at the figure clearly meant to be the Anti-Monitor sending out the waves of anti-matter across the multiverse.
  • In the final scene of An Avenging Christmas, the Daleks are revealed that they are beginning to launch an invasion of The Multiverse. In Cult of the Daleks, it is revealed that the Daleks have already conquered several Earths with little to no resistance and have installed their own group called the League of Skaro to aid them in their conquests.
  • At the end of Cleaning Duties, Weyer completely loses it and pulls a Screw This, I'm Outta Here when he realizes a piece of the Tri-Force landed in the hands of Randall Flagg
Weyer: Sorry, folks, you're on your own. I can handle the Joker, Thanos, Darkseid, Doom, Sauron, a score of gods, even the occasional Lovecraftian nightmare, no problem. But this guy? This guy scares the absolute shit out of me.
  • Halloween Special: The Janitors has figures all across the multiverse hit by the fear of...something...out there...as a trio of little girls are seen singing "One, two, Freddy's coming for you..."
