Nightmare Fuel / Frozen (2013)

Oh look. He's about to be impaled.

• The sharp icy spikes Elsa unintentionally creates at the ceremony. It's quite a case of Mood Whiplash to see her powers suddenly go out of control like that. It establishes tension, and is the point where things begin to go downhill.
• The scene where Elsa accidentally blasts Anna in the heart with ice. Things only get worse when it turns out Anna may freeze to death and Hans leaves her alone in a room to die from it.
• The scene where Marshmallow goes berserk and nearly kills Anna and Kristoff after he's hit with a snowball. It is incredibly tense.
• Still thinking Hans was her Knight in Shining Armor, Anna expected him to give her a True Love's Kiss and save her from the frozen heart curse, Hans instead gives his Wham Line, maliciously smirking at Anna and claiming that nobody cares about her. As he reveals his scheme, he extinguishes all light sources to accelerate the frozen heart curse without having to shed any blood. The psychological effect of Hans's Breaking Speech really left her despondent when he revealed his true thoughts about her and what a fool she was for falling into a Fourth-Date Marriage. The way he serenely tells her his evil plan while extinguishing all light and heat in the room is unsettlingly sociopathic.
  Hans: Oh, Anna... If only there were someone out there who loved you.
  Anna: What...? Y-you said you did.
  Hans: As thirteenth in line in my own kingdom, I didn't stand a chance. I knew... I'd have to marry into the throne somewhere.
  Anna: What-what are you talking about?
  Hans: (extinguishes a candle) As heir, Elsa was preferable, of course. But no one was getting anywhere with her. But you...
  Anna: (concerned) Hans?
  Hans: (picks up a pitcher) You were so desperate for love, you were willing to marry me, just like that! I figured after we married, I'd have to stage a little accident for Elsa. (douses the fire in the fireplace, enveloping the room in darkness)
  Anna: Hans! No! Stop!
  Hans: But when she doomed herself, you were dumb enough to go after her.
  Anna: Please...
  Hans: (chuckles evilly) All that's left now is to... kill Elsa and bring back summer.
  Anna: (defiantly) You're no match for Elsa!
  Hans: No. You're no match for Elsa. I, on the other hand, am the hero who's going to save Arendelle from destruction. (heads for the door)
  Anna: You won't get away with this!
  Hans: Oh.... I already have. (closes and locks the door)
